Freebies and Such

Thread Starter

This thread is for freebies/deals/etc. that you've found and want to pass on to the rest of us.
If you find one that makes you think of a particular mama, try to tag her in the post, please.

We've had a couple really great deals come across the threads.  As we get closer to our due dates, I expect there will be more and more.

Keep in mind that many deals have expiration dates and use your best judgement.

Does anyone know how to tag?  I'm trying to tag Activia.
She mentioned baby leggings.  I think she mentioned having some, but . . . this came across my mailbox.  I ordered one extra so after my 5 free pairs and one additional for $2, my total including shipping was under $16.
I think it was worth it, even without knowing quality, yet, or if baby will tolerate them.  I'm a leggings nut, personally and I couldn't resist.

Note: You'll be signed up to receive some other freebies, or so they say.  I got this from Everyday Family.  I think I signed up for them and a few have come across my mailbox, but this one is the first I've made a purchase from.

Receive 5 FREE pairs of Baby Leggings with our Valentine's Special!
A $50 Value
Enter the promo code "Family2014" at checkout to redeem!

It's as easy as 1-2-3!
1. Go to the Baby Leggings website.
2. Click on "Shop Now" and choose your 5 favorite pairs of Baby Leggings.
3. Once you have made your selection, you'll automatically be directed to your shopping bag. Enter the promo code "Family2014" and we will deduct 100% off the cost of 5 pairs of Baby Leggings!

Baby Leggings make great gifts! Selections dwindle quickly so order yours today!
*Remember you can use the promo code "Family2014" more than once, just open a new web browser to do so.

@Activia

@Michelle Murphy when you're mobile, there are 4 symbols above the reply box, choose the '@' symbol to tag. If you're on a regular browser, I think you type @ and then w/o spaces start typing the user name and it offers you the members that you can tag based on the letters you've entered so far.

Is this deal from the same place that does the 'free' slings (of questionable fit/quality) and the 'free' carseat canopy + optional upgrade to aftermarket (and prohibited by your carseat manual) covers/inserts/padding, and the 'free' nursing covers?

@Michelle Murphy I just did that deal today. For anyone interested, the shipping is $13.45, BUT still a pretty good deal on baby leg warmers (figures out to less than $2/pair), which I admit I have a major addiction to! Additional pairs are $2 each.

I think it is affiliated with the other companies where you get tons of "free" stuff - I got a nursing cover through it when I was pregnant with DS, now I'm not so modest, so glad I didn't spend a ton on it. ;)

It is the same company, and the concern I have is that they are known to farm the credit card info of people who take advantage of their "great deals." If it was just poor quality, that falls under "Buyer, beware" IMO, but theft of financial information is an ethical issue for me.

If you have already bought using a credit/debit card, I would advise keeping a close watch on your account for purchases you did not make. If you have not bought anything, but still want to, I advise using Paypal and being very careful. For me personally, I don't want to do business with a company who operates like that, so I just keep an eye out for affordable baby leggings elsewhere.

hmmm I had a bad feeling about this company and have been wary but there I went and purchased the leggings already!

If what you say is true that is FRAUD not just questionable business practices (which I was already sure they did... I just figured they sold your address info to companies that will then use it to send you all that great junk mail.. and I didnt really care about that because I already get tons of it, it goes in the trash) My credit card expires in June... so that's good at least cause the CVV will change. At least it wasn't a debit card.

I have some used ones I could probably part with for $2 a piece if anyone wants them now that I bought these! I don't think I need 14 pairs. LOL

Hey, if it is that important to you to get a cheap nursing cover or baby legs, go for it. They do send the product and I didn't say otherwise. They don't make fraudulent charges every single time or even the majority of the time or they wouldn't still be allowed to operate. But it does happen and has been reported by many different people, it is fraud, and I thought some people might appreciate a friendly warning.

ETA: There is a thread on Babycenter that was started in the last week where people who responded to the most recent offer are now experiencing fraudulent charges of $100s of dollars. This is not isolated or the first time this has happened. I remember it happening in my pregnancy with my younger son 3+ years ago as well.

Sorry, I was afraid of this. I don't question what you said. I didn't mean to belittle or deny, just wanted to give a head's up that I had used this service and hadn't had anything bad happen, so for those of us or whom it was too late (Activia and I) that maybe it would be OK, a little reassurance. I also didn't get the offer through Everyday Family, but through the Baby Leggings company (and Udder Covers) directly, so I don't know if it's Everyday Family that's the problem. I haven't signed up for them because the process seemed suspicious. Forget I said anything. My feelers are too fragile and anxiety to high for the internets today. gloomy.gif

There's definitely a chance it will be okay. I'm sorry you are having a high-anxiety day and hope things get better for you. hug2.gif

I ordered the babylegs and the sling early on in my pregnancy and found both to be scratchy rather than soft.  I love the look and seeming convenience of leggings but think I might make some with some DIY ideas I saw on Pinterest rather than purchase more.

A freebie deal that is legitimate is the Similac Strong Moms membership.  You get a code for a free photo book from Shutterfly.

I also heard that Target is giving $20 gift cards when you sign up for a registry.

Oooh. I loved my bamboobies. Snatched that one up + ordered some of the pillows (also comes with a free pair of regular bamboobies) and some overnight ones.

If anyone likes American Apparel (I like their bolder colors of baby stuff)... There's a living social deal - $30 to spend for only $15

@HopefullyMama  posted this on another thread, thought I'd add it here (mostly so I don't forget and lose track of it in the other thread)

I'm assuming the code is good through the rest of March :thumb

I "liked" them, but honestly, most of the stuff I see is junk I don't need/want.

i am part of a great co op on facebook. They run different buys that range from natural baby products and cloth diapers, amber, natural cleaning products, and natural stuff for mamas and wood toys. They usually get great deals on stuff and the ladies that run it are awesome. it takes a little time from when you order to when you actually get it (usually like a month or 6 weeks) so its not good if you are in a hurry to get your stuff. But I have gotten some wonderful things and good deals on diapers. If anyone is interested please pm me your email address.
