Hi Moms out there -

My husband and I have been TTC for a year and I was just put on Clomid 50 mg - did my first round and still no ovulation :(  I do not have PCOS or any other medical condition that I know about - I am just curious if anyone out there started their journey the same way and if so how long did it take for you?  ANY stories would be helpful

sincerely - HOPEFUL

Hello LucyJo27! Welcome to Mothering! I tried Clomid and it didn't work perfectly for me. After 3 rounds, I moved onto Letrozole/Femara and had better luck with that. There are many, many women who have had babies because of Clomid. I hope you are one of them soon! Is your doctor monitoring the thickness of your lining? Clomid made my lining progressively thinner, but Letrozole did not. If Clomid doesn't work for you after 3 cycles or so, I would encourage you to talk to your doctor about trying something else. Good luck!

hey there. I just did my first round of clomid at the beginning of the month and my blood test from last week confirmed that I ovulated, as did the 3 positive ovulation tests I took. I'm waiting to find out if I'm pregnant next week.

This was my first time doing anything in regards to fertility meds. We have been trying to conceive since April 2013 (almost a year). We already have a 5 year old son who was concieved with no help at all.

fingers crossed it works for you!

Thank you everyone for the replies - it is so interesting to hear how everyone reacts so differently -

Still no positive ovulation - so it looks like nothing for round 1 - the Dr told me if round 2 doesnt produce a positive ovulation either we will  be bumping me up to 100mg -

Thank you again everyone and if you are trying too - I send fertile vibes to all of you too!!!

We started TTC #2 in October '13 (so this is cycle 5/months...Ugh) and last month did our first round of Clomid 50 mg days 5-9. This cycle my OB bumped it up to 100 mg and although I got a + OPK test at CD 13 (and had ovulation type cramps that day and the next) my OB says my 21 day progesterone level (7.4) was low and that she didn't think I ovulated this month. I was really down about that (because it's so confusing....getting a + OPK and having cramps and being told you didn't O) but on a thread I started there's a lot of posts about women getting told the same and then they get a BFP a week or so later! I have 2 days till AF is due so....fingersx.gif. My OB says to do another round of Clomid 100 mg this coming cycle and do another 21 day test and if that's still off track to go to Oregon Reproductive Medicine in Portland to meet with a Fertility Specialist but we can't afford that at the moment so that makes me depressed. However, my plan B (because I think I have 2 refills left on my Clomid prescription) is to take it the next 2 months (if need be) and THEN see where we're at financially. If we still can't afford ORM then I'll just go off the Clomid and take Soy Isoflavones from Whole Foods (I used them the cycle before we conceived baby # 1) which does similar things to your body as Clomid only it's natural. You take it CD 5-9 as well. Or I'll just go off everything and try au naturale. I do need to lose the rest of my first pregnancy weight gain (I gained 65 lbs) as I still have 25 lbs to lose to get back to where I was pre-pregnancy with our son, this was back in 2011. Anyway...I will update on here in a couple days and let you know if my OB was wrong....and I did O and got a BFP or if AF came and it's on to Clomid round 3.

So....so far Clomid hasn't worked for me but...I'm not giving up hope just yet.

Best of luck to all TTC! dust.gif Baby dust you!

I am on CD8. I took Clomid 2-7.
I started with OPK's yesterday and BD.
It feels weird to have things scheduled.

I conceived my son after just one round of clomid! There was never a firm diagnosis for me although probably PCOS and post partum I have being diagnosed hypothyroid.

Hi I took clomid 50mg paired with a trigger shot of ovidrel (Spelling sorry it's been a few years) we also did an IUI as soon as i tested positive for ovulation surge. We decided to go this route after 2 years of TTC. The result we got pregnant on the first try. My son was born summer of 2010 shortly after we conceived naturally and my daughter was born early 2012. Now that she is 2 and we have been trying for #3 for over a year, we have decided to do clomid 50mg again without anything else to see if I just need a little boost. I took it on day 5 -9 and I have just spent the last 2 days in bed puking and have been feeling lots of pressure in my lady parts. I am scared I am having a reaction or experiencing Ohss. Anyone ever have really bad side effects? This time around I had hot flashes the days I took it and have been feeling nauseous since. It's day 16 today I still haven't tested positive for ovulation surge. Not sure what to think. I am a little scared of having multiples if I am over stimulating. Not sure what to think. The first time I took it I didn't have any noticeable side effects.

Just finished my 3rd round of clomid today. With the last two rounds, I O'd successfully with no triggering meds but we still didn't "catch the egg" so we'll see what happens this round.

I had nausea and hot flashes too the first month on Clomid (50 mg) days 5-9. Those are normal side effects. Not sure about the throwing up though. I didn't have it that bad.
