Nervous about waiting...

Thread Starter

Can anyone share their experiences about waiting until later to start a family?

I'm currently 28 and in law school with two years left to go.  Following that, I will need to work for at least one year before thinking about babies.  I am in a serious relationship, but we are not married.

Basically, I am terrified that I will never get to have a family of my own, because there are so many uncertainties in my life and I feel like I am starting to run out of time...

I am wondering if there were any of you mommas who were once in a similar situation and could offer some helpful words or stories.

Hi, going to bump your thread in case it was missed. Great question by the way.

I am still waiting myself but I have heard of lots of people who wait til 30-33 and are fine. I have heard the risks go up at 35 years old.

I didn't wait to have kids and always thought I'd be done before 30. Now that I'm there I really don't see the need for that. I think waiting can have its benefits and I don't see any reason that you can't still have a family. I know there are some moms around here that waited to have kids or are still having kids in their 30s and 40s. Take a look around the forums and you'll find some threads on it. Might help ease your mind.
