Confession

So I am suffering from the world's worst head cold. In addition to regular work, orchestrating an office move, and caring for a 2.5 year old and house mainly on my own. (DH has an insane week) I caved this morning and took one dose of Sudafed to get me through the day.  I have no intention of taking any more, but there was simply no possible way of making it through the day without it.

Have you ever taken something, eaten something, or done something you really should not have?

Last night, I bought a pint of ben & jerry's that wasn't on sale. I never do that. It cost a dollar more than the full carton of Breyer's ice cream dh picked out. Then after the kids went to bed, I ate the WHOLE THING. Never done that. Been tempted many times, but always forced myself to make at least 2 sittings out of it.

I had two bowls of ice cream last night myself.  They honestly seemed to clear my sinuses a bt :) I sort of redeemed myself though, I had a salad the size of head for lunch.

I know what you mean about it getting to the point where it's something you aren't really supposed to take vs not being able to function. I was house sitting and snowed in for days without any Tylenol. They did have Advil and after getting a bad migraine I finally gave up and had that with a glass of diet coke (for the caffeine). I was alone with the kids and needing to keep three different waters (chicken's, different chicken's, and sheep's) from freezing throughout the day, so I really needed to be functional. It worked, though. DH struggled through the snow the next day and brought me Tylenol... yay!

I have a good one.. Hope I don't come to regret this! Friday night I made cupcakes. The frosting has raw egg yolk. Because of that, the leftovers were stored in the fridge. But on Saturday, late morning-ish, 2yo do knew they were there and just would not quit trying to get them! (oh, and I shared one with him for breakfast, so he wasn't deprived! Lol) so I put them on top of the fridge, and they've been there since. Since their delicious chocolatey goodness (they were runners up in thechurch cup cake war!) overruled all common sense, I ate one late last night after the kids were in bed. And then I ate another one today after lunch. Today I've felt gassy (er, we'll, we did have chili last night and leftovers for lunch) and my tummy kind of weird and my intestines rumbly! Hopefully just some diarreah and nothing worse. I like to think I've built up some good immunity to food-borne bacterias over years of being pretty relaxed about how long to store leftovers, or using meat that has been in the fridge a day longer than it really should have been. Aside from the heat of the dishwasher, nothing in our kitchen gets sanitized. Ever. And I would think all that is overall good and keeps our immune systems strong smile.gif but raw egg that's been sitting out for 24+ hours? Might be sort of asking for it! But then I rationalize.. One itty bitty yolk in that big batch of frosting, and only a spoonful on each cupcake? Meh...

Well, I'm feeling downright triumphant today! I think the cupcakes only slightly affected my digestive system. I only had the flipfloppy tummy &  gurglyness last night and thats *it*. I did make a point of going out and grabbing a kombucha to have with breakfast right after dropping ds off at preschool. Food poisoning, apparently, isn't *that* easy to get? Or my immune system is awesome? hahahah.

My husband, in his infinite medical wisdom, says that is is actually very difficult to get food poisoning from raw egg.  You are more likely to get it in a restaurant from an employee who does not wash their hands.  But I'm glad you had no ill effects from your cupcake :)

My diet has really kind of sucked lately.  I have been a cheese o holic.  Need to get back on the wagon or I am going to weigh 300 pounds by the time I have this baby!

Yeah, I'm not scared *at all* of raw egg, in general. But I figured raw egg + sitting out for over a day was pushing it ;) Darn, I should have had more!! LOL! I probably had a rumbly tummy from eating so much chili :P hahahaha.

Mmmm cheese... I'm hooked on apple slices with smoked gouda. A slice of cheese topping each apple slice. and I can get smoked gouda dirt cheap at grocery outlet. $2 or so for the same amount that's more like $6 at the grocery store. I thought cheese was a good pregnancy snack! Ya know, good protein source?

Well yes, but probably not in the amount I have been consuming it in.  I must have eaten a pound of mozzarella yesterday!
