8 week Healthy Weight Loss Challenge version 14 (starts March 3, enrolling through March 5)

Words of wisdom from Milk8shake (with minor modifications):

The version 1 thru version 13 eight week challenges were a great success, and many of us are up for another eight weeks - we're opening it up for any newbies who would like to join the next round of the challenge.

Please read below.

Background: The thought came to my head because I joined the "losing weight in 2012" thread, but I didn't have much motivation, and I had no-one to be accountable to. I was thinking about the Biggest Loser, and how teams can be such a motivation. So, I thought I would throw this out there for anyone who needs to get some weight loss happening, but just can't seem to get off the couch.

The challenge: Commit to an eight week weight loss challenge. You'll be assigned to a team, and your weight loss percentage will be measured on an individual and a team basis. The team with the highest loss percentage at the end of the eight weeks will be the winner. This is a TEAM effort. If you lose, your team wins! Your weekly progress will be updated on the leader board for all to see.

The requirements/rules:

  1. You have to be willing to commit to the full eight weeks beginning March 3, 2014 and ending April 21, 2014
  2. You have to be willing to commit to exercising a minimum of 4 x 30 minute sessions per week - the type of exercise is up to you!
  3. You have to be willing to check in and update your progress and weight at least weekly on Mondays.
  4. You have to be willing to share your weight and your height. (By PM if you are shy) You may not join if losing 1 lb / .5 kg per week will put you in an underweight category according to your BMI (check here) at the end of eight weeks.
  5. If you miss more than 2 weigh-ins in a row, we will continue to track, but your loss will NOT contribute to your team's totals.
  6. You may not join if you are pregnant. If you become pregnant during the challenge, weight loss up to your BFP will be added to the team challenge, but then I will ask that you wait until after your baby is born to join again.

The prize: A thinner waistline, a slimmer derriere, and the opportunity to bask in the glory of the winning team. The challenge will not start until Monday, March 3, 2014. Sign up now to let us know you are interested so I can begin making teams.

I am in this time. I am 9 weeks post partum. I had gestational diabetes while I was pregnant and although I started out pre-pregnancy at 250 pounds, when I had the babies I weighed myself and I was 246 :) The babies sucked all the weight out of me. As of today I am 224 pounds from breast feeding two babies exclusively. I have been trying to limit my carbs like I did while pregnant to keep my gestational diabetes at bay although not as tiny an amount each day.

I'm in!  The last challenge wasn't very productive for me.  I really had trouble fitting my exercise in.  I'm going to make a firm plan for making that happen, and hope that this time around is better.

I'm in again. I was just invited to my ten year high school reunion this summer. Now I have some real motivation! I will not be the fat frumpy housw wife with 4 kids! I never thought I would be so shallow but really.

Reunions are motivation. This summer is my 20 year reunion. Most of these people I havent seen irl since high school graduation. A few came to the 10 year reunion so I saw them then. Now I am married and have twin boys. So much has changed. At my 10 year I had spent a year losing 25 pounds to look like I did in high school. I was overweight when I was in high school but at least I looked the "same" 10 years later.

In again. Making slow progress. Lots of hockey planned for next weekend. I need to find a daily exercise though.

I'm in again. The last challenge was a bit of a bust for me too. Hoping to make more consistent progress this time.

I'm in again! orngbiggrin.gif Hoping to get back on track this next week. First up is ridding the house of all the junk this weekend!

I feel bad, for I gave up last challenge... Started great with the cleanse, then kept craving junk food and gave in MAJORLY. Until now, I've been overeating, making myself feel sick with sweets and such... UGH!!

But I saw this thing on my newsfeed (and funny thing, a coworker had told me about it that same night! It's probably going around on FB a lot), a cup of boiling water, a tsp of cinnamon (I use the organic kind, so expensive but muuuch better) and 2 tsp of raw local honey... Drink half on empty stomach first thing in the morning an other half 1 hour before going to bed. It's supposed to help in digestion and I believe it just satisfies the body somehow, for in the last 3 days I haven't been craving anything bad, which is a first in a loooong time. I recommend to all!

I'm in again and I'm hopeful this is going to be a better this time around!!

Oh and I'm giving up sugar for lent! But I'll stick with nature's sweetener (honey, molasses, cinnamon, etc) in lil doses.

Tomorrow is day 1. I am excited!

count me in!!!

I am 5'6" and weigh 148ish (will get the first weigh in tomorrow) and my goal this time will be 145 (although, my final goal is 140).  I actually lost 5 lbs in the last challenge, so I am hoping to at least go down 3 more!

132.49 lb

my goal for this challenge will be 123.5, so "only " 9 lb

which would get me at a BMI of 23

63.9kg (140.9lb)

The weather is a bit cooler here now. I was able to put DD2 in the pram and go for a 30 minute walk while DH took DD1 to kindy this morning.

I don't really have a goal for this challenge. 60kg would be good though.

I am 5'10" and with a 288.8 start weight. I have lost 15 pounds already this year but have totally dropped the ball the last 2 weeks and gained 5 pounds (I was down 20 pounds before).

My goal is to drop 20 pounds in the 8 weeks. At 180 I am a great size and feel wonderful. I hope to be there in 2015.

Ok, I haven't posted on MDC here lately, too much judging (IMHO), but this seems likely to be supportive.

I randomly found this page today.  I'm in.

My scale is broken (battery is dead) so...can't tell you my weight today :)

At an educated guess, 185?
Height is 5'3"

My goal weight I think is around 125-140 (depending on how much muscle comes with it).

I have 4 kids, homeschool, and 3 jobs, so finding time to exercise and eat healthy is my biggest challenge.  Trying to schedule it.

180.4 this morning. Yikes, February, that was rough. Ready to get back into exercising now! I'm planning on walking 5 times a week for now, maybe more if I can fit it in. What's everyone's plan for exercise?
