Boobs!

All right! First timer here, starting to freak out!

My boobs are out of control, I've gone up 2 cups sizes and am pushing yet another. On top of size changes, they are bright red (like someone blushing) with blue veins, spider webbed all over them. The skin is so sensitive that I get big welts / indentations from the seams of the nursing bra's. Recently i have noticed that the actual pores of my skin look really big and far between, "crater pits" I have affectionately dubbed them...

I am only half-way through this and am worried that this is abnormal. Do I have a skin condition or something, that they are soooooo sensitive? I have been using a "belly balm" on my breasts as well as my tummy and this seems to help with itchiness and flaking skin. Are they ever gonna stop growing? What happens when my milk comes in? I hear that you often go up another cup size right after the baby comes.......

Fretting.....

... and mine are sore and huge and blushed and blue-veined too! But worse yet, they've already started leaking milk!!! Now it's bad enough I smell that milky smell. argh. We were in the bookstore last night and I got cold... which promptly squeezed out droplets from each duct on each breast. egads. I told hubby to PLEASE hurry and dig that other maternity box out of the attic, where I must have packed my old nursing pads. I can't believe I need them at 20 weeks!

MILKY SMELL!!!!! Yikes! more fun stuff to look forward to I guess....

Oh, well... at least I feel confident that these boobs of mine are getting ready to feed a baby. We're rockin good lactater's in my family! My older sister started "leaking" months before her first child was born too... I just fear ending up with my humongous udders like my mom's. (she's considered getting a reduction done) Oh well, I guess the universe feels like giving me great big happy boobs!

bustily yours

One day many years ago I ran into a woman who was a good friend of mine in high school... we had lost touch after college, sort of went separate ways. I was looking for a card and so was she but I didn't recognize her because she was 9 months pregnant. Yes, looking for a card on her due date. (No, not a birthday card for her baby.)

In HS she always, ALWAYS hated her breasts. They were big. Really big. And she was not a big girl; about 5'3" and maybe 120, and I'd say that at least 15 of those pounds were her chest. She always looked terribly top-heavy and got a lot of teasing about her breasts.

When I saw her 9 months pregnant, it was the first time ever that she looked totally balanced. She was beautiful. I told her so. She said "yeah, 'bout time these g*damned things were good for something."

I take that to mean that she nursed her baby!!

Just a funny story from Jen, who's still in her pre-pregnancy bras... waiting to grow. OK, so I've grown a little, and my nipples are very dark, but new bras? Still waiting for that one.

P.S. without a bra on, one of them hangs down nearly an inch lower than the other. I hadn't noticed untill my hubby helpfully pointed it out to me, by placing a finger horizonally under each one.... Now I self conciously notice it whenever I look at my breasts.

Thanks alot Jerome!

Oh boy, I am the lactating QUEEN!! I love nursing, it is soooooo easy for me. I hear of all these problems other women have...I just open my bra and out comes dinner!!

Although, I counted the other day how many months I have nursed a child, and it came out to 55 months total. That could account for the fact that now when I take my bra off, they hang to touch my big belly!!!

Oh and Anna, smack Jerome for me..you NEVER say that to a pregnant woman!!!!!!!!

Yup, I think I first noticed my horribly unbalanced boob size when pregnant with my first. Joy. (Then every shirt you wear with horizontal stripes will drive you batty!!!)

Hey, gals, I just added my 20 week belly picture tonight. Check it out on the yahoo board, or go here:

To give you some Boob perspective, my cleavage starts just below/right at my hair line in this picture! Giant boob mama coming through, look out! :

OMG Savannah, I read your post here and headed right over to yahoo to figure out how your boobs could start at your hairline!!!! I had the oddest images in my head!!!!

Newly lactating!

Well it's started....... I'm leaking! Dreams about breastfeeding (which i have never done!) seem to set me off. I woke up wet and crusty in the night. I guess i should start using those nursing pads my sister included in the baby stuff i got this weekend.

ah... the joys!

Leaking hasn't been a problem, but I feel ENORMOUS. Probably to the world I just look small to normal though; non-pregnant I am flat as Kansas. My nipples are the size of pencil erasers. No, they're bigger. They are freakazoid nipples.

Why am I am the same belly size as Savannah -- and I'm NOT carrying twins??
I am not leaking with this one yet....but I am huge compared to how I used to be.

Ellen--I am bigger than Savannah..and one baby for me too!!

I'm still lookin' down at the same size I've been for years, wondering if I'm missing out on something or if this whole nursing thing is really going to work for me?!!!

My friend Sasha says, "Just wait til your milk comes in."

Guess I'll have to. Nothing's doing anything now.

ps to Ellen and Caroline: I guess your babies are enjoying bigger "swimming pools"

It's my curse, gals, I tend to carry "small". Which aggravates me to no end, because I WANT to look pregnant! Only my family and close friends think I look "huge", the rest of the world tells me I look "so tiny for carrying twins...". Oh well. I'll be posting my 24 week picture Monday; I am now the size I was at about 8 months with Nicolas, but I'm sure you'll all think it's small!

OK, new boob funny from today: I was attending a family birthday party today and was sitting outside on a blanket with sister, niece, cousin, etc... My teenage niece (who was on her tummy near me, head right near my chest), says "for some reason, I'm smelling the smell of that milk you give babies..." hahahahahahahaha. I laughed, apologized, and admitted it was me, and told them Matt recently had asked what that "cream cheese" smell was. I smell my milky smell all the time now! How awful that others can too. We all had a good laugh, and started to joke about how they should invent scented bras, or better yet, bras with built in baking soda to absorb the smell!

I've never been busty just your average 34B-C. Even through my first pregnancy, I didn't get very big. UNTIL my milk came in at 3 days. : Then I was buxom. :LOL It was awesome! I stayed big for a long time. At least through the whole first year. It really wasn't until I became pregnant with Jack and my supply started dropping that I wasn't quite as "full" looking as before. I was about 18 months PP with Tori. It took 6 days for my milk to come back in with Jack. I was huge for a couple weeks until my supply steadied... then I was back down again. I'm larger than I was pre-pregnancy but not by a whole lot. And now that my supply is gone again... I'm looking a little "droopy". And yes, (TMI ) my nipples are MUCH bigger now.

I was never lucky to have that buxom pregnancy chest without having a huge pregnancy belly sticking way out.

Jen, it's genetics. I don't grow that much either. Compared to pre-pregnancy days I've gone up a cup size, but I've also gained a lot of weight, so I'm thinking I probably would have anyway. And I never leak during pregnancy.

Speaking of size changes, I recently saw -- oh, what her name -- Courtney Cox on the cover of some magazine and she had BREASTS! I thought for sure that she'd had a boob job, but then I looked closer and her face was a little fuller and there was a slight curve to her belly. So I looked inside, and sure enough she's pregnant. She was complaining about the extra fat on her body, though, which I thought was too bad. I thought she looked beautiful.

You know, when I went to buy some underwear at A Pea in the Pod there was a quite pregnant mama there who was complaining about her size - she had to be a whopping size 4 or something - and how "fat" she was with this pregnancy. I wanted to march right up to her and grab her by the shoulders and shake her while yelling, "EMBRACE YOUR BEAUTIFUL BODY! YOU ARE DOING SACRED WORK! YOU ARE GORGEOUS! YOU HAVE FAT ON YOU SO THAT YOU CAN NURSE YOUR BABY!".

Needless to say, I didn't.

But oh so sorely tempted!

I guess I will heed Sasha's advice, then, and just wait til my milk comes in, mwah ha ha ha! Luckily she will have some nursing bras that will fit me! If they're too "cuppy" I will just stuff them with nursing pads

Ah, or just go bra-less! My nipples were nice and soft and tender from years of wearing a bra (not to mention inverted) so it was a VERY hard adjustment for me. It also took a while for me to figure out that my recurring infections had everything to do with the fact that my nipples were in contact with soured milk when I wore a bra. The less I wear a bra, the less trouble I have.
