anyone know if vit c is okay for dogs? if so, what amounts would you guess?

my dog has been ill since styrday evening ( he got rabies vax on sat. morning)

any suggestions?

i have been giving him gatorade by syringe, and he drank a little bit of beef broth on his own.

mods please move if this doesnt fit here, but i figured it was the place most likely to find quickest response for the subject matter.

It is my understanding that dogs can not metabolize vit C so it would serve no purpose.

That he had a reaction to rabies vax is not a big surprise. I have come across sites that warn of that. Unfortunately I am not into researching for animal vaxxes, so I don't have any links.

Someone else will, I'm sure. Did you do a search under rabies vax + reactions?

Dogs can metablolize it. In fact their bodies actually make vit c (ours don't). We give our pets vitamin c. As for the amount, I really don't know. The bottle I have recommends 1250-2500mg for dogs 26-50lb, which is 1/4 - 1/2 tsp. It's from Halopets.
Poor baby, I hope he feels better soon. I sooo dread having to vax our dogs any more. Wish I could exempt them.
