Jayden is on the verge. He will pivot around his legs and scoot backward. No actual crawling, yet. My husband and I have a bet going as to whether he'll crawl or get his first tooth first. He's 8.5 months. When did YOUR baby start crawling?
My DD never crawled, just did a funny scooch on her bum, and went straight to walking at 12 months. DS is 9 months now and started crawling around Xmas, but only really got the hang of it in the last month.
Mine basically wasn't mobile til 9 months. No scooting, rolling or crawling. He was huuuuuge and hated to be in his belly. We got him a walker because he loved to stand. He finally got over his belly hate and crawled, then started walking a few weeks later.
My first didn't crawl till 14 months, she moved on to walking within two weeks.
My second started crawling at 11 months. She was turning in a circle & scooting backward for a few month prior. She has not pulled up to standing yet, but does do so on her knees.
My first sat up early at 4.5 months, but was happy to sit and didn't crawl until nearly 9mo. Then she walked within three weeks of that. My second sat at 5 mo and was crawling well by 6.5 mo. He is how 10 mo and cruising and standing without holding on to anything. I'm sure he will walk soon!
Update: he's been crawling (I guess creeping is the appropriate term) for a few weeks now and has started pulling to stand! We can't wait to see him walk!
Wow, a lot of variation in this thread, it's reassuring. My daughter crawled at 7 months and started pulling to stand & cruising very soon afterwards - that made me think she'd be an early walker but she's 13m now and is only just starting to toddle a bit unsupported. She's very slight and I think possibly the heaviness of her head vs. lightness of body makes it hard to balance? I dunno. It's wonderful to watch her when she does try walking though.
Mine has started crawling when he was 7th months. Normally every baby start crawling when they will be 6 to 9 months old. Crawling is the big developmental leap after sitting.
DD was around 6.5 months when she started crawling, pulling to stand almost immediately after. She cruised furniture until 10 months and took some independent steps at that time, but really didn't take off walking until she was 12 months.
