Pregnant, and question about the CP Vax

We selectivley vax, and have decided against giving my daughter the chicken pox vax as we just don't feel it is very needed, and that CP is a pretty harmless childhood disease that we could easily deal with if she were to be exposed (she is 16 months).

I recently found out I am pregnant, and from past research, believe that CP can be harmful to an unborn baby.

Would anyone in this situation decide to vax? If not, what are your resons, if so, how come? If you are not comfortable posting here please pm me.

I would choose not to get your daughter the CP vax while you are pregnant because then you're exposing yourself to the disease. CP is a live vax and kids can get chickenpox from the shot. I work at WIC and I've had kids come in who had chickenpox from getting the vaccine. So I would just do everything you can to keep your immune system up during your pregnancy and keep your daughter away from large groups of kids.

Sarah, Have YOU had cp? If so, then exposure to to virus while you're pregnant will not be a problem for your unborn child.

I'm not recommending a vax for your dd, btw. Just thought I'd throw out that bit of info--cp would only be a danger to your unborn child if you, yourself are not immune.

You definitely don't want to purprosely expose yourself by giving the vax. Also, I've read that if exposed after your first 12 wks, the potential for danger to your unborn child is practically gone. Congrats on the new baby!

I agree, no vax.
By vaccinating your dd during your pregnancy, you are only INcreasing your risk of exposure to the virus.
