We had such a sudden shift in our EC once my baby crawled. No more toilet. PoopingIin diaper almost overnight. I've read its common. I'm interested in what others are doing as I struggle to keep it up. And I struggle with cleaning up all the poopy diapers. So busy to figure out where to go from here. Its been almost a month of our new patterns. And she unsnaps poopy diapers.
We got a little potty when DS was 3 months and we decided to do EC. I wasn't comfortable holding him over the big toilet. Now he can sit on it himself I'm looking forward to him being able get on and off by himself.
We use gdiapers, which fasten at the back, or undies for back up and he can't get them off. Yet.
We got a potty nearly as soon as we started with oldest at 2 mo (he was so heavy I was afraid I'd drop him in the sink or toilet ;-) ). By the time he was crawling/cruising, we'd gotten a couple more and always made sure to leave one wherever we were hanging out. I recall that there were lots of wet pants for a loooong time (he was very consistent with pooing, though) until I started noticing that he'd been signalling me with a hand sign I wasn't understanding (it looked similar to our sign for the ceiling fan) and that he was also sitting on the potty fully dressed =P
Best recommendation for this stage, besides leaving little potties everywhere, is to focus on a few super-reliable potty times (after naps or meals?) and use whatever back-up pants/ diapers are easiest on you for the rest of the time.
