I'm an experienced baby-wearer with 5 children. My 4 yr old son has Down's syndrome. While he walks (and runs) beautifully, I often use my ergo with him when the parking lot is a far distance or when I go into the library (or other public space) and I need my attention to go other places because he tends to wander. I'm not a big fan of strollers (I have a wonderful Phil & Ted, but its extra work, I'm awkward with strollers, he yells more, etc). However, I'm finding my ergo not giving him enough support these days. He is close to 40lbs, I'm fit and strong, but if I'm wearing jeans, I can end up with a bruise on my hip from standing in line at Old Navy (happened yesterday). Any suggestions?
I live in Canada, so with duty taxes and shipping, it is a bit expensive, but I have used it more then my ergo and beco, so well worth it. And it is the only carrier for that age group that I know of.
Toddler/Preschool Kinderpack, or if you like the close feeling of wrapping, I'd recommend a Bloo Kangaroo Kanga. They make a toddler (XT) and preschooler (XTP) size. I have both brands for my year-old son, and highly recommend both!
