I think I have post-traumatic stress disorder from my DD's birth and NICU experience. I ahve overwhelming guilt and fear. If I have to got to the hospital I freak out. There are certain smells and sounds like make me physically ill. Does anyone else have this? Did you seek treatment? What did it envolve?

Hi! I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with such strong reactions to your birth experience. I'm no MD but it does sound like PTSD to me. I would suggest trying therapy to see if it helps you. It may help ease some of that panic and help you put the negative aspects of your experience behind you. Take care.

I would recommend you going to an MD or a mental health professional and getting evaluated. This does sound like PTSD. I can't remember exactly when it manifests itself, but your reactions are typical as well as the guilt and fear. It does happen. We typically associate PTSD with veterans of war... You are a veteran of a different kind of war. Please, get checked... it will do you a world of good.
