Hi all,

We bought a Bissell carpet shampooer a few weeks ago and it works great, but I was shocked at how much the shampoo costs!! We used the sample that came with the machine and I went to buy some more and it's like $20 a gallon! I bought the machine to save $$ over hiring a professional, and there was no way I was going to pay $20 for carpet shampoo.

So I thought a moment, and then tried about 5 drops of Woolite mixed with water and put it in the shampoo dispenser and guess what? It works great!! Not to mention it's probably a lot more eco friendly than the commercial carpet shampoo. I think Wooliite is biodegradable. The carpet got so clean and soft. Just make sure you do a couple of runs over the shampooed area with clear water to rinse it well.

I also tried Oxiclean for one section of the carpet and was not that impressed so stopped using it. It's still good to pour on a stain or spot, but I found that when used on the whole carpet, the carpet gets kind of crusty when it dries. Maybe I'm using too much.
