I am due in early July and I am starting to get all ready! It's funny how with Konur (hospital birth) I didn't have to do any prep work but get the clothes washed and the nursery set up (not even bothering this time!) but now there is more to think about like the pool and the kit. I am still not certain who all will be there though, I do have a helper for Konur who is 3 so he can come and go as he pleases. 8 weeks left and I am getting a little nervous. I guess that is normal, huh?

Yay!
I was so excited when I ordered my stuff. Of course, I waited a wee bit too long and everything arrived only about 3 days before I went into labor, lol.
Congrats!

THIS is why my dh needs to make his decision on homebirth! He has been putting me off for several weeks now, and I am antsy to get on with the arrangements. I also have an appointment with my CNM next week that I would like to cancel. We had been planning a hospital birth with her.
Where did you order your homebirth material? This baby is due mid-July, and I'm feeling behind on all of the arrangements. We have so much cleaning and organizing to do!

I'm 35.5 wks, due the first week of June. My pool just arrived today (though I'm not acutally planning on birthing in it, I want it to float in now and labor in then) and the rest of my birth kit won't be here until Wednesday of next week. I don't recommend waiting this long (most MW's day 6 wks is ideal) but we didn't have the $$ until now. Besides that, I had no nesting bug until this week, and now I am UNSTOPPABLE!! lol!

I got my supplies from Cascade, its on Oregon. My MW has a special kit that she likes to have us order with all her fav stuff in it.
I am due in 8 weeks so I wanted to have it all ready and waiting for us to use it.
I still can't believe I am going to give birth at home. What a dream come true.

I'm still giddy from the impending reality of homebirth, too! I called and left a message for the midwife yesterday to set up our first appointment, and I haven't heard back from her. It's making me a little nervous. When we spoke two weeks ago, she said that she had room for me. I hope she hasn't changed her mind.

I've been seeing a nurse midwife who practices at a nearby hospital. She is with a large OB/GYN group, and follows the medical model closely. I like her personally, I just don't want all of the testing/technological hoopla. I have a lab order for a Glucose Tolerance Test lying on my dining room table right now. I hope it gets to stay there!
Still haven't heard back from the homebirth midwife. I hate to call back after I've already left a message, but we'll be out of town tomorrow. She lives almost 2 hours away, but has 5 other clients in this area who are expecting this summer/early fall. So she did say that she had room for me.
I wish I had been able to say "YES!" when I spoke to her the first time. Dh had to do more research on the hospital costs. We have 85/15 % coverage for a hospital birth, but it still comes out to cost as much as the 65/35 out of network costs for a homebirth.

Which birth tub did you order?
So which birth tub did you order? What company? How much did it cost?I do plan to labor in water a bit (my big jacuzzi type bathtub) but don't want to give birth in water. I am hoping my tub is boyant enough for me, but I know it ain't as cozy as a huge birth tub...
and I'm wondering whether or not it's worth it for me since this is my 2nd labor and 2nd labors tend to go MUCH faster.
