Week of May 4......

Thread Starter
Hi everyone, hope all are doing well. Thought I would start a thread for this week. Had my dr appt yesterday and baby's hr was in the 140's. Same as my dd was. hmmmm...... Both of my twins (boys) were always in the 160's. I have definately been feeling the baby moving around in there. I've been feeling pretty good other than getting winded. I just picked my first batch of green peas from the garden and will cook those tonight. yum cant wait. I should have sugar snaps and snow peas ready in a week or so.

Anyway, who here is feeling movement and when did you first feel it? I think I first felt it at 12 1/2 wks.

Yay - the new weekly thread! :)

I'm officially in the second trimester (14 weeks)!! Not feeling any different (never really had m/s), but my waistline is slowly fading away... I told DH, "It's not that I can't fit into my regular clothes--they're just so uncomfortable!"

I am normally clumsy and off-balance, but it's getting way worse! Today I walked right into a doorknob and it left a big welt on my thigh!! I put an ice pack on it for awhile, but it still hurts. DH makes fun of my stumbling.

I am so jealous of your peas! We don't have much yet--we've actually had frost still this week!--so no garden yet for us. :

No movement, though I read somewhere that if you drink a glass of ice cold water and lay down on your left side it supposedly makes the peanut move around so you can feel it. I've tried it a couple times, but this first-time mama can't tell yet. Of course, I do have a superactive GI system, so that could be causing confusion.

Thanks for starting the thread!

I am 13 weeks and a few days and I have been feeling movement for a little bit now. I think it does get easier to tell with each subsequent pregnancy.
I am also jealous of the fresh peas. It is still pretty cool here too, it was 31 degrees the other night.

I am starting to feel a little better and be apalled by my awful diet here lately. I am still having really weird food aversions.
Any advice?

HI, gals! I'll be 13 weeks on Thursday, and I'm still feeling yucky! All day nausea and severe fatigue. Oh, I just want to lie down on the floor and pass out, but my 13-month-old sweetheart has other plans.

I have my second appointment with the midwife on Thursday, and I'm looking forward to that.

HI! I'm 13 weeks 2 days and feeling about the same, not so much round ligament pain, but, occasional stretched out pains on the sides of the uterus(did that make sense? lol) Mostly when I get up from a seated or lying down position too quickly.

Other than that, my appointment with my new MW is on the 12th, she told me that they offer a routine u/s at 16 weeks, which I will be taking cause of my curiousity about placental movement, also, the mw said that if it has moved perhaps even half way, its looking good for around delivery time,in which I will need another one to confirm I do not have placenta previa at that time.
Well, I hope ya all are doing good!!!

Hi ladies,
I keep forgetting about the quick reply feature at the bottom of the page, LOL! Anyway, I will be 13 weeks tomorrow and I'm not feeling any movement yet. I was really starting to look forward to it, but today I had my second appointment and I'm not sure I'm going to be feeling any movement for awhile. I had a pap and it appears my uterus is inverted with my cervix flat up against my pubic bone. It was a very awkward pap to say the least. And it took us forever to get the heartbeat and when we did it was pretty faint. That's because my uterus is tipped back much farther than normal since it's inverted. I'm trying not to worry about it too much. She said that it will usually tip back on it's own, but in rare cases will get caught up on the tailbone instead of moving out of the pelvic area. Which can cause many more problems. I'm to do pelvic rocks on hands and knees several times a day. The thing I'm looking forward to the least is the fact that they will probably want to do an internal exam at my next appointment to see if things have changed. Anyway, because of that I don't think it will be easy to feel anything until my uterus shifts. The baby is pretty buried.

I was trying to find a pic of a woman with the uterus/cervix (all that stuff) on the net and when you're trying to find something you never seem to be able to come up with it. I remember someone posting a link to pictures of the different stages. Anyone remember which thread that was on? Thanks.

Hey all,
I found that link I was asking about. It was posted in the week of April 13 thread. But someone changed it. It's very bad! If the moderater is reading this, the link should be deleted. Don't go there. I hope someone bookmarked that site for us all, because it was a great link.

Hi Gals:

Thanks for starting a new thread...I'm 10 weeks and 3 days now..I swear I have felt some movement twice, but with the amts of gassy stuff going on in my gut, I can't be totally sure...10 wks seems too early..but I can also suddenly feel my uterus, which I couldn't before this week.

Still getting some "evening" sickness..lollipops are some help, but my main problem is my mouth feels "furry" all the time so I'm having to brush teeth a few times a day..my main aversion right now is bread..and I'm not jealous of the peas cuz I hate peas! LOL!! Sorry! Anyway..I really hate bread at the moment..which is sad cuz I got some low carb bread to try with a chicken sandwich and I just can't bring myself to do it..and I'm always wanting a hamburger, but NO bread!! Well, I am a blood type O, and I don't usually like wheat products anyway..so I guess the baby is being more type O than I am LOL (he/she has to be type O..both his dad and I are). Otherwise I still want lots of potatos and I think about eggs but when I go to make them I get grossed out.

I'll be so grateful for the next trimester, I can't tell you. One of my neighbors had her baby this week and the baby is SO tiny..I forgot already how little they are!!

Hugs,

Hello,

About 11 weeks along and feeling okay. Not too much to report as of yet.

With dd I felt her move (distinct kicks) from the start of the 15th week. DH could feel them from the outside then too.

I'm so looking forward to feeling movement with this one. I LOVE it.

I am so hungry. Every 2.5 hours, my stomach growls for more food. I dunno what the deal is, but I gained 65 pounds with my first pregnancy (lost it all) but now I think I'm headed toward a big weight gain again. I was not gestationally diabetic with dd, just really hungry!

I have an OB appointment next week to check my thyroid again, but then I think I'm gonna switch to the midwife for exclusive care.

Oh yeah, we heard the heartbeat really early this time at 8 weeks, 6 days!

Hi all,

Alisha there must be something up with your computer because I went back to the post and hit that link and I just saw a picture of an ultrasound at eleven weeks, unless you are talking about a different link.

Here is a link for week 13

http://www.pregnancyweekly.com/topic...ound1/13wk.htm

We won't hear the heartbeat for awhile because my mw doesn't use a doppler except in emergencies.

I have a protein question. My midwife wants me to eat between 75 and 100 grams of protein a day. I can eat eggs if I hard boil them but that is a lot of eggs any other ideas for someone who is kind of off meat right now. I just can't stomach it.
Well, that is odd. The words in the link were not even close to that. Our computer has been acting up a lot lately though. We may have some sort of virus or something. Thanks.

Oh, on the protein, how about peanut butter and saltines. That's been one of my favorite ways of getting protein lately!
Don't forget cheese if you will eat it...Soy products...beans but I think you have to couple beans with some other thing to get a full protein..(correct me if I'm wrong you vegetarians!)
Hi mom2radata.. I'm having a hard time with meat right now too. I've been making smoothies each morning with soy-less protein powder (the soy based protein powders made me REALLY gassy). This one has an egg-white base and tastes great and has 24 grams per scoop! My midwife says i probably only need 1/2 a scoop per day... I also found some bread at Trader Joes (do you have that in Iowa? maybe a health food store would carry it) that is a complete protein bread. I'm doing alot of cheese, probably too much, soy milk with cereal, eggs (sick of them) and lots of yogurt. Every now and then I want tofu, but now i don't want it at all. sigh.
hope that helps..
Stanya

Thanks All,

No Trader Joes but there is a locally owned coop that I can probably find something like that at. Dh came bringing home eggs tonight and I almost through them at him. Ds is thrilled though because they are one of his favorites. I wish I had the tastebuds of a two-year-old. Then I would like eating the same food three times a day.

eta Is my midwife nuts about this, has anyone else had similar recommendations?

I'm 11 weeks now, morning (all day) sickness still around, but unisom is helping. I've noticed I've turned into a bitch, what is up with my moods? I know its early, but I swear I've felt movement a few times.

I'll be 12 weeks on Saturday. Everything seems to be going well. I still don't trust our situation. I was walking down the hall and it just popped in my head that this could end at any time. I know I'm being a freak. I've seen this child on the screen three times. I can feel it at times and I am exhausted. This should make me feel better.

The harder parts of pregnancy are still there. I went to bed at 7pm one night, I'm irritable, tongue tied, lazy, hungry all the time, and finally when I eat I can't finish the meal. LOL I guess it's the crap I'm eating. I need to work on that in the next few weeks.

I have an interview with another department for a night position. It would save on Thomas' daycare. On the other hand it would be a new schedule for my body to learn. I'm going to give it my best shot. If they offer the position DH and I will discuss it.

Don't feel alone Heather. I am having a lot of the same fears and it stinks. I can't get in to this pregnancy and I am having all these feelings of doom and gloom about it. I am also having a hard time eating a lot. Is the such thing as pre-partum depression?
I'mm 11 weeks and feeling much the same as before. Still sick, still tired and I cry at almost anything (which sometimes takes me by suprise because often I can tell it's not even something I consider emotional. I don't usually cry much)
I had my first midwife appointment the other day, too early to hear a heartbeat so she didn't even try but I have an ultrasound sceduled for the beginning of june when I will be 15 weeks. So I am really looking forward to then when I can find out for sure there is actually a baby in there!
Good news for me though, I was accepted into the birthing centre at the hospital (there are limited places) so no labour ward for me!
I'm 12 and a half weeks now, not much to report. I've gotton over the icky sicky stuff thankfully My next MW appt. is not until the middle of the month. I got to listen to the hb last time and everything souded great in there. My 4 yr old was facinated by it We can't wait to find out the sex of this baby! That will happen in late June. I haven't felt any movement yet, but with both of my boys I felt it around 14 weeks so I'm thinking this will be the same. I felt something yesterday but then again I had horrible gas:LOL
post #20 of 21
I'm almost 14 weeks and today I felt the first little kick for sure, I was laying on my bed,all was quiet, next thing you know, it was like a *thump* on my lower right side. I was pleased with this, but since laying on my right side for a few Im in horrid pain, and its not really letting up much at all

I have to wait to dh gets home, I have all the kiddoes here with me, and *sigh* trying to relax.
