Breastfeeding on the Simpsons!!!

My DH is a HUGE Simpson's fan and he tapes them every week. Last night there was a repeat of an episode neither of us had seen... It was the one where Marge takes Maggie to see a Raffi-like character at an outdoor, Woodstock-like concert.

Anyway, when they arrive at the concert it is a like a baby Woodstock, the babies are in mom's arms or in a soft carrier and they're crawling/running everywhere... There is a scene where a mom is holding her little one an she passes out from the heat, the baby goes crawling off and another babe crawls up to the mom, opens her shirt and latches on!!! It was too cute!!!!

There is one bottle, but it isn't feeding a baby, it is thrown at the "Raffi" character when he takes the stage.

Yay for the Simpsons!!!

I laughed so hard! It must be so much fun making those shows - the dream job I want LOL

They also had a re-run last night where baby Maggie was dancing with 60's slogans painted on her body (like Goldi Hawn from "Laugh-in") and on her tummy was painted "Ban the Bottle"

There was a clip of "Frasier" shown last night where Daphne's baby is born and Frasier is admiring them and says, "Aren't they beautiful!". His dad replies, "Yes, and they'll stay that way as long as she keeps breastfeeding".

It is usually presented for a laugh, but hey, at least it's getting air time!

I love that Simpsons Episode. DH even remembered about the nursing baby, and wanted to make sure I didn't miss it

Too bad Maggie is formula fed (Enfamil, btw) :

DH rewound it just for me, so I'd see the baby nursing. I thought it was hilarious! I know my DD would totally do that... she's a boob fiend.

I've never seen Maggie eat. But I did see that episode with the baby nursing.

I think you only see Maggie eating baby cereal on the show, or sucking on her pacifier, of course.

I remember the woodstock raffi show, it was funny.

Several seasons back, there was an episode where a professional baby-proofer came to the Simpson's house to make sure it was safe. She opened the under-the-sink cabinet and found formula. :

Didn't she make some comment about the forumla not being safe? Or is that just wishful thinking?

YES!!! She did!! She was talking about babyproofing, and she said something like, "you don't want Maggie getting into all this (opens cupboard) Similac baby formula!"

OMfreakingG! I absolutely love the Simpsons, there have been so many breastfeeding references that i've seen lately.

My favorite is when Maggie is trying to get into the genius hoity daycare/preschool, and is being judged by Simon Cowell, etc. Another kid doesn't get in, and calls Simon a poopy head, and Simon says to him, "You nurse with that mouth?" To a toddler!! Dh thought i was a bit nuts to be so thrilled by that.

Go Simpsons writers!
