I never talked to my MW about my birth, transfer, and complications.

I had a strange birth of my first child. We transferred to the hospital after 3 hours of pushing (I felt the crown of DC’s head at home), my MW had a “pissing contest” with hospital staff, my MW helped me by relieving a blood clot in my uterus, I lost LOTS of blood, fainted…drama, drama!

Anyway, I never talked seriously with my MW and I’m curious specifically about why I hemorrhaged. I really feel like *I* needed some additional medical assistance after the birth so I’m somewhat content with the transfer but if I get pregnant again I definitely want a homebirth but I worry about all the bleeding.

My question is specifically about how a request for a summary of the birth 3 years later would be received by my MW.

This is also the first time I’ve talked about the birth here and I sure would love some thoughts, advice or commiseration.

Thanks, Hannah

Make that only child -- it was my first and only birth experience.

She would certainly still have your records, and even if she remembers nothing about your birth, it might be valuable to even just have a look at those.

Do you remember much about how your 2nd and 3rd stage were managed? You might be able to figure some things out on your own...
