Hope everything went well Elizabeth.
I cannot imagine having to deal with that kind of drama.

Well, we had a pretty good visit yesterday. We only had one homebirth discussion, and that was with my Stepmom and Dad. They have claimed to support us in our decision, but apparently only to a point. We asked my Stepmom to please come watch our almost 3 year old during labor, and she said she just couldn't do that. She's just "concerned for your (my) safety and the health of the baby."

So far, the three members of my family that we have asked for help have refused since they don't support homebirth. They would be willing to come to our home to help with our son, as long as we're at the hospital giving birth the way normal folk do.

I'm getting ready to call dh's sister-in-law. I know that she will come if she is in town. She had both of her babies at a Birth Center with midwives. Her logistics are trickier than the other family members'.

I think that was our last family visit until August. They can come see if us if they choose to.

Thought you'd like to hear that one!

I hope you get everything worked out with your mom...They've got mama bear instincts too, and I'm sure she's just trying to 'protect' you at this point. Let it settle on her for a while, and go to her with an open heart and let her know that you *want* & *need* her to be supportive of you & your decisions so you can better enable yourself for a great birth at home. Hey--and, ask her where HER mom was born...
