Want to redecorate my kids bathroom...

I'm not all that crafty, I do florals and some stamping and my biggie is baking/cooking. So that said, this is my fantasy.

I would like to redo my kids bathroom in primary colors and hand/footprints. For example, cobalt blue rugs with *My* kids footprints on them. The shower curtain with footprints and handprints. Some towels scattered throughout with hand and footprints. I can't paint the walls, it's base housing and dh will freak out. I have bought some really nice rugs, but can't paint on them, I can't figure out how to get it to stick. A friend suggested I do felt cutouts of the kids feet and sew them on, but I don't know if my machine will go through that fabric. Then I thought about taking them to get them professionally embroidered, but that takes out the fun of doing it ourselves. I cant do anything permanent, so I've gotten some clear contact paper and I'm going to have them do handprints in paint on that and then stick it to the mirror, etc. My biggest worry is the rugs. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this done? I want something permanent, nothing that will need constant repair (once in a while, no big deal, but something I need to repair after every washing kind of defeats the purpose, you know?) and really, really cute. And now the big part. Dh will be home in just over a month. I want it finished before he gets home.

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions/whatever? I'm open to try just about anything!!

Thanks so much!

Are the rugs you have the fluffy kind? I just use the type of bath mats that hotels have. They are made of terry cloth and are bound on the edges. They are not fluffy at all. I think that putting your children's footprints/handprints would work fine on this type of rug.

I hope this helps! I am craft-challenged and I am trying to redecorate my children's bathroom as well. I am trying to do something that is kid-friendly, but is pleasing to all ages, because it is the main bath that everyone uses (we live in a ranch house with 2 bathrooms).

Good luck with your project!
