Butt Sweaters-- wool q.

How can you tell if a sweater is wool or not? I know there is a way to test, but the forum it was originally discussed on no longer exists so I can't go back and look. I have a sweater I was going to send in a swap to a girl wanting to make covers out of it, but I dont know if it's wool 'cause there is no fabric tag in it.

I know there is a way, too, but not sure of it. Is it the same burn test you use for cotton? I would think that burning wool would smell like burning hair, but acrylic or nylon would smell more like burning plastic.

I am pretty sure the burn thing works like this: wool doesn't really "burn". It more like smokes and is hard to actually burn. Synthetics will more like melt. I don't know what happens when you have a synthetic mixed in with wool though.
Hope that helps.

Wet it. Wool stinks, acrylic, etc do not. That's about as easy as you get. :LOL

I tried burning some fuzzies and we think that it is synthetic. Such a shame, too.
