I too have PCOS and hear your concerns. Having never given birth before, I just don't know what to expect.

T What was "Foster's announcement"? SHould we in the birthing world know about this?

Peace,

Jessica:

Kudos for you for wanting to try again!

Maybe I missed it, but did anyone mention getting a lactation consultant? I know that it might be an expense for you, whereas LLL is free, but it might be worth it if you could find *just* the right LC, you know?

I don't want to get bashed for this, : but in MY experience, a LLL that I belonged to was not as supportive as I had hoped (and I was a full time bf, co-sleeping mama--neither of my kids has ever had formula). I totally DO NOT want to start an argument here on your thread looking for support, I am just trying to say that if you SHOULD happen to find that YOUR LLL isn't understanding of your specific concerns, you might want to find an LC who has experience dealing with your particular issues IN ADDITION to attending LLL!

I am sure that 99.99% of LLL are wonderful & supportive & helpful, however!

Good luck to you, hon. You are getting a real head start on it this time & arming yourself with information.

I agree and I'm a leader! My first experience w/ LLL was HORRIBLE! In fact I only called the leader hotline again when my oldest was almost 18 month old and I had a raging case of mastitis. The group I now belong to(and recently became a co-leader of) is fantastic and incredibly supportive w/ the exception of one or two people. My advice to anyone looking for a LLL group is shop around. The group that works for me might not work for you. Hopefully you are lucky enough to have more then one group in your surrounding area.

aww--thank you guys!

I joined the MOBI list and have already learned about Goat's Rue for helping with my insulin resistance and increasing my glandular tissue...now I am just on a hunt to try and find it!

My first LLL experience was horrible too..and I was scared to go back! but this new group seems really good and I have a leader that is doing some major digging and reading about my disorder to try and help me.

You all can't know how much your kind words have helped me to feel a little better about this.

OK--maybe I will try LLL again. I do want to meet some crunchy mamas.

Jessica--best of luck to you! I hope everything goes the way you are dreaming.

Wow, I too had a bad experience with LLL in a "tight spot". I found that a LC was so much more helpful and knowledgable when things were NOT GOING WELL. I actually had a homebirth but when to the hospital breastfeeding group after my baby was 4 weeks old and well under birth weight. I kept attending that group for a long time.
I'm sure it really depends on who people are and what their experience is......

I am so glad it's going well. Been following to find out how you were doing. All the best.
