I cant find anything!!!

I hate Iowa!!! First Im so frustrated because I cant find the stuff I need for the pattern Im doing, and I went to our local shops, and Hobby Lobby didnt have Fishermans, and neither did Joannes. Our michaels went out of biz, and when I was at walmart I only saw red heart. GRR! I cant even get started on the needles I need, they were all 29 inches, I need 16.

Does anyone have suggestions on where I can go online to buy these supplies, preferably one place I dont want to pay shipping more then once. I went to patternworks but they didnt have any Lions Brand wool nor could i figure out the crotchet hook, and I couldnt find a blunt yarn needle, but i dont even know what they look like or sizes, etc, though i imagnie they are blunt needles. I would be willing to try other kinds of wool, just dont know what, Ive heard so many mixed reviews, and Ive never felt it, so Im a little apprehensive.

So my supplies that I need are:

sz 6(US) 16"Circ
sz 4(US) 16"Circ
blunt yarn needle (no clue on where to find this online)
sz 6(US) crotchet hook (Couldnt even find that in us, only letters????)
stitch markers

Have you looked on woolworks.org for a local yarn store? I don't know where you are in Iowa, but here's the listing for the state:

hey lyndsey, it's a "g" crochet hook, not a 6, I always forget that crochet hooks are sized weird, with letters, LOL!

A blunt yarn needle can also be known as a tapestry needle, or soemtimes just a yarn needle. You can often find them in wal-mart, with the rug hooking or embroidery stuff

You can find everythign you need at http://www.bwwhivewool.com,Here's what you want:

Aero circular needles, size 4 and size 6 (16"-make sure you put in the note field that they are 16" and not 32")
Paton's Classic wool works well, but it does have some merino woolcontent so you might need to wash just a bit more often becuase of it stretching out of shape, but it will be very soft and will wash well

The only thing you'll need that they don't have is the yarn needle, which you can pick up locally. I know I'e seen little blue plastic ones in the aisle of wal-mart (and the joann's has them as well, int he same place) where the cotton embroidery stuff is. They are made by susan bates For markers, you can just use loops of yarn, so don't worry about getting those.

Hope that helps!! Where in Iowa are you, maybe I can find some local shops for you in my shop finder

Thanks for the link Tara, we are in Waterloo, so none in the area. Though we are planning on visiting Ames again to revisit our college town, sometime next month, so Ill definetly be hitting those places up! Thanks Teresa for the reply, I was like wow she sure knows a lot then I saw it was you! I got my circs ordered, and my local walmart has G crotchet, I just talked to them, so I can get that and the blunt needle. Whew I feel so much better, though Im not pleased its 5-10 day shipping on my needles. So impatient, :LOL

Thanks again! Im on cloud nine!

I second the little cheap blue plastic needles, I think they're called children's yarn neeldles? But you can also get a darning or tapestry needle at wal-mart where the packages of needles are for hand sewing...just look for a BIG fat needle with NO sharp point...that's the one you want :LOL(it's in a package with other needles you won't use :LOL)

I'm in Iowa City, if you are thinking of a little trip, Ben Franklin and Hancocks have what you are looking for. Hancocks has lots and lots of wool yarn, including Fishermans, and Ben Franklin also has Fishermans, plus tons of other wool yarn and all the 16" circ needles you can imagine, lots of bamboo and tons of crochet supplies.

I would probably get lost in IC, lol. Love that place though,we always travel through to visit my folks in Illinois, and we have to stop at the mall. Would live there if I could get my husband to leave this town. Thanks, Ill remember that for in the future, and actually I didnt know Ben Franklins sold yarn, I think we still have one in town somewhere. I went to one anyway as a kid to buy candy, might still be there.
