I love the movies! It's been awhile since I've seen anything really good.
Help me out! What are your favorite movies, and why???

tough one...

here are three favorites that come to mind:

Life is Beautiful
the most charming, heart-warming movie i have ever seen. we used a song from the movie to walk down the aisle at our wedding. a must see movie.

The Imposters
great cast. fun filled period-piece romp about two hopeful actors who stowaway on a cruise ship trying to hide from another actor they publicly belittled.

The Fisher King
while i'm not normally a huge robin williams fan, i did like him in this. however, i LOVE jeff bridges and think he's one of the great, underappreciated hollywood actors.
another great one from director terry gilliam (also loved 12 monkeys).

I agree with Frida and Lost in Translation......

I also recommend Mona Lisa Smile, Winged Migration, The City of Lost Children, Red Rock West, Bottle Rocket, Best in Show, Rushmore......


I could go on and on. I am such a film fanatic.

Of recent: 13 going on thirty (all the 80's nastalgia) and 50 first dates (I liked groundhog day too).

Under the Tuscan Sun was good, as was Master and Commander. Return of the King was amazing, especially if you are a Tolkien fan.

For family comedies, Cheaper by the Dozen was cute (similar to the Lucille Ball/Henry Fonda movie, Yours, Mine and Ours)

If you want to go to the theater, Shrek 2 is great, and really fun for all ages.

I've been on a movie rampage this week, making up for the last year.

So far, "Love, Actually" has been my favorite - it might actually be one of my favorite movies of all time. "Girl With the Pearl Earring" my second favorite. (Both have Colin Firth which is a lovely bonus ).

If you want to go to the theater, I hear rave reviews about "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind."

Those are new ones, anyway. I'm too tired to think of all of the fantastic old ones.

YES! 'Donnie Darko' was AMAZING. It stayed in my brain for weeks afterward. And, since we're on Jake Gyllenhaal, 'Moonlight Mile' was a fantastic movie, too. Very emotional and thought-provoking.

American Beauty is both mine and dh's favorite. I just bought it for $3.50 on video. I could watch it over and over.

The Life of David Gale was really good too.

American Life- LOVED this movie!!!!

American LIfe? I've never heard of it. Who's in it? What's it about??

We have recently seen....The Life of David Gale, good, but sad and thought provoking. The Count of Monte Cristo, excellent. Adventure, love, betrayal, I enjoyed it a lot. The Last Samurai, decent. Not great but a good story. I was not impressed with Tom Cruise at all, but the movie itself was ok.

I love my Netflix!

Dh just told me Netflix was bankrupt and that is why the raised the price. I hope nothing happens to them.....I can't afford Blockbuster including late fees!!!

It is about an Irish family who come to New York thru Canada and their struggle to make it. It is a great love story between the husband and wife. Great Family story, great story about grief and moving on, their son died and the Father is still holding . It has a great story line with the sisters and then family befriending a neighbor and how he takes care of them and teaches them an important life lesson. It has a beautiful feel to it, also I think it is called In American Life, I forget but it is definatley something/ or nothing... American life in the title. I highly reccommend it, it is fairly new also.
