Ok I bought the dye what now?

I have a lot of prefolds that I want to dye solid colors. I've bought the dye- Rainbow rocks from Michaels, but it's a tye die kit. I'm going to need A LOT more dye aren't I? Do I dye the prefolds in the sink, in buckets outside? I'm sorry for the really stupid questions, but I've never dyed anything before. Please help. I need a "Dying for Dummies" book LOL! Thank you

I do it this way, and it sort of turns out splotchy, which I prefer... Not sure how to get it more solid... But I cut open a trash bag or lay a walmart sack on the counter. Squirt the dye on, wring it and dab up what drips off. Then squeeze it and add more dye, just working it all through the fabric until it's pretty saturated. Wrap in the plastic, wait 8 hours, rinse and wash.

Not quite sure how much dye powder of each color is included in the kit but you could probably use the tub/vat dying method to get solid colors. you only need atleast one tbls. to get a medium shade(thats per 3 gallons of h20). Check out the directions at Dharma on how to do vat dying. Rainbow Rock dyes are fiber reactive dyes just like the ones at Dharma(and various other places) just dif. brand name.

twouglyducks method will work as well. BTW, the results are probably more splotchy bc the prefolds are so absorbant. But hey, if it works for you , why fix something that ain't broke!

Happy Imagining!
