Any Quilters Out There?

Hi all!
I am curious to see if anyone is currently working on a quilting project. I call mine my 'sanity quilts' b/c it is pretty much the only hobby that I can muster time to do and I enjoy it tremendously!

I wouldn't classify myself as a quilter yet. I've only made 2 baby quilts so far. I'm not big on piecing tons of small fabric pieces together, so I've only done 4" squares with both the quilts. They came out super pretty and both moms LOVED them. And, of course, all the other ladies at the baby showers just oogled over them. LOL I'm just waiting for someone to tell me they are pregnant so that I can start another one.

My mom is an avid quilter, though, and she is currently working on a denim quilt for my son's big boy room. She is making it out of old denim jeans that were mine and my husband's. She said it is going to have a frayed seam look. Sounds really cute! And whatever fabric is leftover, I plan to use to make a bean bag chair cover. I was thinking I would even use one or two of the rear jean pockets and sew them on the sides so that David could stuff things in them.

Hi Kim,
Quilts are a great gift! I found piecing very difficult, especially cutting out precisely, for a long time. It has gotten easier with each project. I have taken a couple classes that I found very helpful for alot of information and tips. I am almost finished with a wall hanging that is blackwork embroidery of my husband and his siblings/step siblings for a gift for his mother and step father. I hooked up with the United We Quilt Project and am working on my second quilt for a relative of a victim of 9/11. I have made several baby quilts (tied) that I put together by sewing the top inside out to a piece of fleece, like a pillow, turning it right side and sewing the hole, then tying it. So, the pieced blocks is the front and the fleece is the back with no middle layer ~ they are so cozy and washable.

I have a daughter born on July 8. I loved having a baby in the summer!

I make rag quilts. I just finished one yesterday. I'm trying to decide what I want the next one to look like. I think I might do a scrap one.
