To make a hemp insert...

like a Joeybunz, I'd need 6 layers of hemp jersey, right? Will that fit in my serger? :LOL Are all layers serged together? I have a few yards of hemp jersey and a serger and I'm dying to make something from it.

right. But don't cut them out to shape and expect to serge the edges, you won't catch them all. Make a bunch of rectangles the same size and then make a template and trace your shape using a disappearing ink marker ensuring that there is say 1/2" or so of extra material or future scrap. Then serge along that line. Then you won't miss any layers.

My favorite way to make inserts is to make a trifold out of 1 layer hemp fleece and 1 layer hemp jersey but you could do 2 or 3 layers of jersey instead. Make a big rectangle the size that you need it to be a trifold. Serge the eges (I use a template here too so I have nice curved even edges) and then sew two double lines down the center as afolding guide. They are easy to make and quick drying!

oooh...thanks Alison! I would have cut them out all contoured and everything! :LOL

I'll try the trifold as well. I do think the JB insert is a little trimmer than a trifold would be though. I'll see which I prefer! Thanks!
