Fabriconnection Wool Mystery Solved?

Hey! I think I have it figured out today. We were having such differences of opinion about the bulky weight yarn from fabriconnection. I couldn't understand it, because I feel it is just about the softest I've felt. Others say, ech, kinda scratchy.

Today I went to my freind's house () and she showed me her bulky yarn from Jess. It was the BARTLETT's!! I guess Jess is selling two kinds now? Jess? So the Bartlett's is not nearly as soft as the mule spun stuff she's been selling for a while.

Mystery solved? xo pam

She does have both. I tend to get the mule spun stuff (I guess) I just know it as her soft yarn, and have gotten Bartletts from her in the past (when I was desperate). So THAT Would explain the discrepencies we have been seeing around here...

umm, hate to break it to ya, but bartlett's is mule spun, LOL. Bartlett's mill in Maine is the only mule spun mill left in the US. But I'm pretty sure that Jess also sells yarn from a mule spun mill in Canada, so it's highly likely that she sells two different mule spun bulky yarns-the one form Canda and the bartletts. FWIW, I've found that bartlett yarn seems scratchy off the skein, but once it's knit up and washed a few times, it does fluff up quite nicelt and is very cozy after tht. I've usually washed my bartlett yarn in the skein before I knit with it, so it's nicer to work with. I did a really nice sweater for AJ last year with bartlett, and he is veyr picky about scratchiness and he loved that sweater, LOL!

Theresa I didn't know what to call the other yarn, other than "Jess's other yarn"... so I called it the "mule spun yarn" I remember hearing from you that the Bartlett's softens up nicely, but it doesnt' feel as soft off the bat as the "Jess's other yarn"....

It is nice and greasy tho! Really sheepy!
