Anyone listening to it? I like parts of it...'Irish Blood, English Heart', in particular.

He looks amazing but then, he always did. MMMM....the ultimate perversion - celibacy!

I saw the video and couldn't believe how much older he looks compared to 15 years ago... and what's this about celibacy? what's that all about?
I saw the video....... I thought it was pretty good but he looks a little um........ older. The same with my boy Robert Smith *sigh*

Morrissey said he was celibate, don't know if he is still today.

My comment on perversion was a short handed Oscar Wilde quote (celibacy is the only real perversion). A lot has been commented, written on Morrissey's refusal to be pigeon holed as hetero, gay, bi. He was beyond sex, as it were and fascinated a sex obsessed world with his ease of doing without.

He is confounding and that is part of his massive appeal.

Wow! That picture of Morrissey... I guess we're all getting older! He still looks good though.

edited to add: you can watch his new video at http://www.vh1.com/artists/az/morrissey/videos.jhtml

I haven't picked this up yet, but have been meaning to. I heart Morrissey.

Yes, I'm hoping to pick the new album up as well. "Confounding" is a very good way to describe him, playdoh. In fact, seems like that word must crop up in either a Smiths or Morrissey lyric -- hmmmm, I'll have to ask my best friend, who is the real Morrissey lover. She's the one who introduced me to "Louder than Bombs" and "Viva Hate" back in the day . . .

Guess this is probably old news, but I just learned this afternoon (from my little brother no less, talk about getting old ) that Morrissey is headlining the Lollapalooza tour. PJ Harvey will be there as well, along with some other notable names. Although it's doubtful I will be in attendance, it's nice to see that the music fest is of such high quality once again. I was there ten years ago with my said Morrissey-loving friend ~ she was there for me and I was there for Billy Corgan. I did attend two Morrissey shows with her, so I can attest for his live performance as well -- despite aging, he hasn't really lost any of his energy from the early years (i.e. 'Boy with a Thorn in his Side' video).

Oh poor Tracie..... you have obviously been misled.

watched him perform 'Irish Blood, English Heart' on the tv last night and it was good. He is captivating. Yummy.

Too bad everyone gets old, even Smith and Morrissey. I could not believe how Robert Smith looked in the photos from Cure's Hollywood Rockwalk Star. He hasn't aged that well, imo.

And really, isn't it kinda gross to get a Hollywood Rockwalk Star if one is the Cure?

Happy Birthday Morrissey!

I was wondering how OLD he was exactly so I went to imdb.com. He turned 45 yesterday! In that new video, I thought he looked older than that...

Here are some of his quotes from that site:

"You have to, at least from a distance, look as if you know what you're doing, and I can manage that."

"In England, pop music seems now to be exclusively for children. Lavish promotional campaigns are meant to blind audiences to the uselessness of an artist. If an artist is no good, why is it necessary to have that artist repeatedly rammed in our face?" (Speaking in 2003)

"Elton John is pushing his face in all the time and telling us about his private life. Nobody's interested, he's incredibly rich and he's just hoisting his problems on to everybody and working them out publicly. He should just go away."

(edited to add: Robert Smith was 45 last month...)

Ha! That is great, Cranberry thanks for letting us know.

And I love the quotes. Especially the encouragement for Elton to just go away. ITA. Let 'em have Vegas.

I am so excited about Morrisey's new album. Last year I went to buy dh Louder Then Bombs cd (we had it on tape, time to come into the 21st century), anyway the guy at music store loved that I was buying the Smiths and gave me his store discount he said "For good taste" I loved that.

Dh is trying to get us to go to Lollapalooza, he was at the 1st one before we were together, he wants to see Gomez and Los Lonely Boys Now I hear Morrisey will be there what a great venue. I am excited
