Hi!
I am a mama to a 12 year old as well as a 2 year old and 2 month old.
All girls LOL.
We had a big problem last month, a 'friend' of my dd got her e-mail account password and messed around sending foul messages to everyone on her list (me, grandparents, friends). This was SO unlike Emily that it was stopped immediately. Thank goodness for IP tracking, we figured out who it was and called their parents who were very receptive.
However now I have come to find out this is common. I needed more tools to be a better mama to a pre teen. I mean I'm all over the AP thing with babies and children but this is new to me! I picked up the following books and recommend them!
**Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends, and Other Realities of Adolescence by Rosalind Wiseman
**Girl in the Mirror : Mothers and Daughters in the Years of Adolescence by Nancy L. Snyderman, Peg Streep
**GirlWise: How to Be Confident, Capable, Cool, and in Control by JULIA DEVILLERS
The first two are for mama to read. How to help her deal with the new world of middle school, and beyond. The Girl in the Mirror is about the relationship between mama and dd's. I LOVED it -- very supportive and positive.
The last one sounds like that babywise thing but it's NOT. It's not related to Ezzo at all. It's for dd, very empowering and chock full of great info, from changing a diaper, how to be a good babysitter to how to do well in math.
For pre pre teens (8-13) we loved "The Care and Keeping of You". Very sweet look at how to deal with body changes.
Anyway, sorry for the book here but I thought you may be interested. These books changed the way I'm parenting her like Sears changed how I parented her as an infant.

Meg
