Hi I have an aristocrats cover that I am going to dye. Is there any way to tie dye it or will it have to be a solid color?

I don't know how she does it, but you can ask her:

knit in your pants gallery

tie dyed soaker close up

Yes you can. How you prepare the fabric depends upon the dyes you use.
Check out this link http://www.geocities.com/knitter01/koolaid.html . She uses Koolaid, she also has a link in her instructions to another site that I like and is informative about dyeing wool.
For Procion dyes you could probably follow the instructions at http://gfwsheep.com/rov.inst/rov.inst.html. She uses acid dyes, but the prep for using procion is really the same.

You could do your basic stripes by sectioning off the soaker with rubber bands. You could do circles using rubber bands or ribbon. Many possibilities!
Have fun!
