Poem from the Egyptian Book of the Dead
My mouth will be mine once more
that I may speak;
my legs will walk again and my strong arms
will defeat my enemies.
The doors of the sky are open
and the mighty Geb throws wide his jaws.
My eyes that were closed are opened,
my legs are stretched as they were before.
Anubis gives strength to my thighs that were bound.
The sky will gather me up
and my heart shall beat in my breast once more.
My arms and legs will be strong.
I will live again.
My soul and my flesh will be free.
(Geb - earth god who captures souls; Anubis - the mortuary god)
My mouth will be mine once more
that I may speak;
my legs will walk again and my strong arms
will defeat my enemies.
