Very favorite children's book?

Thread Starter
I'm throwing a baby shower for one of the members of my book club, and for gifts we are all bringing our most favorite children's book. Being the huge procrastinator that I am, my top favorites have been taken already! I'm drawing a blank, and I need some suggestions. Already taken are Where The Wild Things Are, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and The Giving Tree.

What was your most favoritest children's book ever?

Well, the one I enjoy reading right now is "I Love You As Much." Very AP . I also enjoy reading The Three Javelinas, Hamilton Pig, (hey, I have a pork thing going on here!) and Dog is Thirsty by Satoshi Kitamura. His counting book is also awesome!

Oh, does it have to be an old one?
Well, then I guess I have to say The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, but I still think you should try to sneak in Wild Child. And besides, I already had copies of everybody's 'old favorites' before I got pregnant, so it might make sense to bring out some newer favs.

I introduced my daughter to my old favorite series of books...she can't put them down now...the Chronicles of Narnia. You might recognize it more if I called it The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe books.

georgia,

I you're in a piggy mood, make sure you read 'Pigs Aplenty, Pigs Galore' by David McPhail, I think. It's a giggle-fest everytime we read about those crazy pigs!

I love "When I Was Young in the Mountains", I've bought it for my daughters, my nephews, and for just about every baby shower I've been to.
