knitting pattern question *ssk & k2tog help needed*

My mom bought the LTK apron top sometime back and was going to make it for the girls, but has yet to even get needles yarn, so I asked if I could just make it. Ugh Im trying, but feel so overwhelmed. Waiting for my newly dyed wool to dry so I can start my soaker.

So my question is what the heck does this mean? :LOL

(Im including the entire thing though I beleive I understand it all but the bold part.)

A=22
B=46

Knit for (A), SSK, place marker, knit 1, k2tog, knit for (B), SSK, place marker, knit 1, knit 2 tog.


I believe I understand the bold but Im not sure, and I want to be usre so I dont ruin her shirt.

*edited to say I dont think I can do this. I just spent all this time doing what I thought was a ssk only to find that indeed I wasnt, why you ask? Because I was supposed to end with 100 stitches and instead ended with 50! And now Im leaking!

Ok. Here you go....

Slip one stitch from the left needle to the right. Slip the next stitch from the left needle to the right (neither of these are knitted). Then you will put your left needle in the front (right needle coming out the back) and knit those two stitches together. K2TOG is knit two stitches together. Both are ways to start decreasing your work.

i think i interpret it a little differently : )

knit for 22 stitches

stick in your right needle like you're going to knit, but just move it over to the right needle. ssk = slip stitch knitwise

put in some sort of marker (i used to use a loop made of contrasting yarn for mine)

knit a stitch

knit 2 stitches together -- put your right needle thru two stitches (it may feel a little tight depending on your tension) and knit like always. the two now became one



just take it one step at a time and you can survive most any pattern

I can interpret it atleast two different ways.

I think I understand the ssk, question, after I finish the ssk, how many loops would it have put on my needle?

And with K2tog, is it pretty much the same but you dont slip the needles off? Does the needle go to the back to knit or to the front to purl? And after doing the k2tog, how many loops would it have put on my needle? Id imagine one since your knitting them together right?

according to the instructions you posted:

Knit for (A), SSK, place marker, knit 1, k2tog, knit for (B), SSK, place marker, knit 1, knit 2 tog.


you should be decreasing four stitches in this row.

haha I did the ssk for 23 stitches! :LOL I tried that site yesterday but I cant get the videos to work, do they work on your computer? Im so excited, I may just being do this right, just read the pattern WAY wrong.

so you are decreasing once on each side of the marker, with one knit stitch in between the decreases. Got it now?

Got it! Thanks mamas! Woohoo! Im so thrilled, I was so down yesterday after I completely ruined it and had to take those stitches out. And Im definetly not a fast knitter, so that was a lot of work I put in just to have to take out. Feeling much bettern ow, so glad to have you mamas here for the help.
