Anyone read books by Jodi Picoult?

I've read two of her books and the same thing happened each time - I loved them until the endings, which I found to be unrealistic and unsatisfying.

I won't go into detail unless anyone else wants to discuss her books...

I read Perfect Match and Sister's Keeper. I really liked Sister's Keeper--stayed up until the wee hours to finish it! I was definitely surprised by the endings, but I kind of like that. I read a lot, so anytime I am surprised, or really original work comes along--yippee!

What authors/books do you enjoy?

I love book talks!

I have read Salem Falls and Plain Truth. I just got one from the library to read ... Second Glance, I believe.

I have liked them fairly well so far. This is so far from what I usually read so I have been fine with them.

Which ones have you read?

I read "The Pact" (I think that's the title - it was about teen lovers who had a suicide pact?) and just finished "My Sister's Keeper."

I was really irritated by the ending of "My Sister's Keeper." It just seemed so darn neat and wrapped up. I wanted Anna to have to make a decision about donating a kidney to her sister, I wanted to see how her sister would react to the decision - perhaps Anna would say yes and her sister would refuse to have the transplant? And I wanted to see the parents show their support for whatever both girls decided. Having Anna die in an accident and having the decision made for them seemed too easy and like a cop-out.

I did cry when Anna died, though.

I'm going to the library to get another of her books today, though..I keep going back!

I just read Sisters Keeper and I was shocked at the ending and bawled my eyes out. But I think that was the point to shock. I too would have liked to explore the other options but I still LOVED the book. I just took another out of the library and I think it's Second Glance.

I love Jodi Picoult and have read everything she's written. The first one I read was "Keeping Faith" and I was hooked from there. I love the way she writes about controversial topics - especially in "My Sister's Keeper." I read that one in two days. I didn't really like the ending though- like someone else said, it seemed like she didn't know how else to resolve things. I also really liked "The Pact", but there aren't really any of hers that I didn't like.

I liked the ending because it showed how life goes. You expect things, and life happens. i think she made the point that the entire lawsuit wasn't ever about Anna, but the sister's wish to be left alone. And then with the tragedy, how could the sister say no thanks? And then she healed, and lived. Interesting. I cried and cried.

How did you feel about the lawyer? I would have liked more of his story, and the guardian ad litem character. Characters that stick with me...that's a good author, IMO.

Did I mention thatv I love book talks??

Anybody read Perfect Match? Another WOW ending...

My book club read "The Pact" last month...just had the discussion last night. Most everyone liked it and it definitely got us going on a good discussion! Many of us in the group have kids that are just hitting the teenage years so it gave us good food for thought. I've never read any of her other books.

I, too, would have liked to know more about the lawyer and the guardian ad litem - either that or keep that storyline out of the book entirely.

I am reading "Keeping Faith" now and it's fascinating. Please, don't anyone give away the ending!

What I like about Jodi Picoult's books is that the subject matter is so roiginal. I read so much that I often have trouble finding books whose plots are similar to books I've read in the past.

I thought The Pact was one of her best. I'm reading Second Glance now and it's great!!
