I finally went to see it........

Just came back from seeing 'Troy'......(just because I can't see you all rolling your eyes, don't think I don't know you're doing it)
Say what you will about Brad's acting abilities (people either love him or hate 'im) the man is a sight to behold. He is truly *beautiful* in this movie, if you like his look. I'm rather ashamed of myself, because to judge someone soley on their looks is a very sexist thing to do, which I despise...... Oh well, every rule has it's exception.
My husband was jokingly giving me a hard time about the whole thing, saying something to the effect of "Isn't it a commandment to 'not covet thy neighbour's wife?' I told him yes, he's right, it does indeed say that. Fortunately for me, it does not say "thou shall not covet thy actresses Hollywood husband" , and lucky for him, I'm not attracted to the neighbour's wife......

I'm not too interested in seeing that movie, but I do like Brad!

I want to see that movie. Did you like it? (I already knew he looked in it. Saw him on Oprah.)

I thought the movie was OK, but then I'm not familiar with the book (The Iliad?) or something like that which the movie was based on. Some people who read the book first said the movie didn't do it justice. To be embarraingly honest, I didn't pay too much attention to this subject in high school, so I learned about the Trojan war at the same time as indulging in my obession!
It was kind of long, so be prepared, but then again, when Brad is on the screen looking like that, I can't think of anything better to be doing with my time!! Well, actually I can, but seeing as this is a family board........

I know there will be stone throwing but I think Brad Pitt is dirty looking, he never did anything for me. I LOVE Jennifer Aniston though :LOL

I won't be seeing this movie. Although he did get the bod in tip top shape and THAT part of him looked good, now if I could just put Orlando Blooms face on there! :LOL

No stone throwing from me. When it comes to Brad, people either love him, or hate him, both in regards to his acting or looks. The man looks da#n good in a skirt, gotta give him that....(even better with it off ).

Personally, I have never been able to get into Orlando's look. People were raving over him in Pirates of the Carribean, but my attention was soley on Mr. Depp.

"Troy" is basically centered around Achilles (Brad's character) and 5 minutes don't go by without him appearing on screen, so not worth going if he's not your thing. But Paris (Orlando) does have some pretty steamy scenes(1 or 2) with Helen, so you may want to rent it when it comes out on VHS/DVD.

Me, on the other hand,.......I'm trying to stop myself from going to see it again.......... :

I saw Troy a few days ago and really liked it! I had not read the book either, but I was familiar with the story. Before seeing it my theory was, if the movie is bad at least I can look at Brad for a few hours! But actually I liked the story as well and yes Brad was
I too would see it again

I thought Hector was fine too!

I really wanted to see Troy (huge classical greek literature fan here), but I've heard it's not a very well done adaptation. Will wait until it makes its way to the library to rent it.

I do think Orlando Bloom's appearance suited my mental image of Paris. Come on, though, everyone knows Achilles was .... gay. What's up with Brad macking on a honey?!

I went to see it with a gay friend, and we laughed outloud at all sorts of sexual innuendos... he refused to call Patriclus Achille's cousin, he called him his boy-lover. My dh went to see it free with his work and hated it, so we had really low expectations. The dialogue was cheesy, the beefcake stunning. Friend and I basically went for the Orlando Bloom factor... :LOL

Yes, I was quite amused to hear that it was his "cousin" who got killed and got Achille's so riled up. The Bloom factor is what I'm looking forward to in the DVD.

I like dirty-looking men.

Ask my dh.

(btw, my dh is by no stretch of the imagination "dirty-looking". hence many issues. :LOL )

I don't get the Orlando Bloom thing, either. Depp is the reason I watch many, many movies! (he's in the original Nightmare on Elm Street. I hadn't realized that until I saw it the other day.)

Chaka. The rougher the better. I also love it when Brad has a bad attitude, like in 'Fight Club'.(the six-pack may also have something to do with it.....) I draw the line at facial hair, though. With a face that pretty - shaving is a must.
I must admit, the 'Patriclus' conotation is interesting.....he was enraged at his death (sorry guys, don't know how to do a spoiler) and he didn't want him to fight. If Achilles was indeed gay, he did a d@mn fine job convincing people he wasn't.
Hmmmmm...... may have to see it again to look for that angle. (You guys can see where this is heading, right? )
Anyone know how long it takes for a movie to come to DVD?
(Remember, mamas, none of us are perfect - we all have our weaknesses. If I am to kick my addiction, I need support, not condemnation........ :
I sometimes wonder how many people have me on 'ignore' based solely on this topic.....but I don't lose any sleep over it

BTW, Chaka, I love your signature!!

China White-- I wish we lived closer! We could go see it again together and give each other support battling this addiction!LOL

lilmiss'mama
I looked at your kids pictures - they're adorable!! Consider yourself lucky we don't live closer; you look like such a wholesome mama - spending any length of time with me would probably corrupt you. The following story should convince you of that .

Completely OT, and completely [B]inappropriate/B] behavior on my part.........in playdoh's thread entitled "Brad Pitt: I'm really gay about the whole thing" someone made the the MISTAKE of mentioning naked pics of him.......a friend sent me a link to the photos, with a well placed smilie spoiler.
Wasn't gonna do it, promised myself.....didn't do it for the two weeks it's been on my 'puter........couldn't sleep last night..........turned on the computer.........curiosity got the best of me........(hanging my head in shame here - truly.)
You're all probably wondering where I'm going with this.........It is my belief that Brad is not circ'ed!!!!! And as for his comment about 'being hung like a hamster' soooooo not true.......
Off to find the nearest confessional.......so lilmiss'mama aren't you glad there is distance between us?
Completely disgusted with myself - can't believe I did that....and on a Sunday, too.

China White, where IS this web site?!
Ummmm, nakie pictures of Brad Pitt.....I must not google, must not google. Wow, just thinking about it....

I think Achilles was very serious for a Brad Pitt character, but I think he did very well. I don't get the Orlando Bloom thing, I don't find him attractive. Eric Bana did a great job, better than both of them. I read somewhere that the battle lasted 10 years, the movie didn't really show that. I don't know the story very well, but it didn't seem to do it justice.
Actually China White could you send me the link!LOL

Sorry, lilmiss'mama , but I deleted the link (like you guys are gonna believe me..... ) but I really did. Had a major case of morality issues, and feelings of having violated someones privacy, etc. *But*, if you were to google the words "Brad Pitt nude" I'm sure you'd find it. If I remember correctly, it was a gay pride site, so be prepared for any images that may pop up.

I have to admit to : ........going to see it again last night. *sigh* . The fight scene between Achilles and Hector is fabulous :.Peter O'Toole played his part perfectly, in my opinion, as did Eric Bana.

Whoever posted that it did not portray the fact that the war went on for ten years is correct-that was not made clear to the audience at all. Still a decent movie, all in all.
I'm sorry, China...it was me that mentioned nakey Brad pics.

I didn't have morality issues about it...I am a dirty dirty grrl

I am sorry if my posting upset you...wasn't meant to be anything other than funny.

Relax, Snowpea!

In no way was it your fault that I have no will power when it comes to that man! My issue with myself is that I'm sure he didn't want people to see them, as he is very private, and it was obvious from his face that he didn't know they were being taken.
Naked pictures of Brad......it's equivelant to offering pure heroine to an addict........still can't believe I didn't know the other meaning of "China White"
