how do you become a moderator?

Just curious how one goes about this?

why do threads asking questions get ignored and others get tons of responses. I feel like most of my threads are ignored and its worse on a questions thread where you are supposed to get an answer. :

I don't usually look in Q and S but I'm suffering from major 24 hr morning sickness and can't do anything else so....I became a mod a number of years ago. Cynthia Pmed me out of the blue. I don't really know why. Apparently my posts were fairly neutral? Or it could be that I was on MDC 24/7 :LOL Wish I could answer you better.

I've wondered too...it seems like something fun, but hard at the same time. I wonder how much time is involved.

I hope you feel better soon. I had horrible MS with Bella, lasted almost 4 months, thats how I knew she was a girl. I never had MS with the boys. s and feel better soon.

Too much time :LOL Dh often asks "do they pay you for this?" I just ignore him. He knows they don't but I LOVE Mothering so much! When I first found the magazine 6 years ago I knew I was home. Then MDC made it even better! I'd be here alot anyway. I may as well help out!

Thanks! I had it like this every darn time. It hits me like a ton of bricks from 7 wks to around 14 wks. Argh. It's during that time I swear I will never have another baby. Then memory loss kicks in when the baby is around 18 months and boom I'm back to square one!

I found the magazine when dd was about a month or two old. I was already doing a lot of the stuff...But gosh it just felt good to find mothering! Sometimes it's a lonely feeling, and MDC diminishes that.

It's a very lonely feeling! I parented my two kids AP style and had no support at all. Didn't even know about LLL It was so great to find Mothering with my third baby. I just had to keep having kids to perfect my AP style! :LOL

Yeah my dd got her teeth early (like 4 months, maybe 3, I can't remember now, I just know it was early) and my parents asked, so are you going to wean her?

That was my parents a few kids ago. Now my mom will call me up to tell me she saw someone giving their 6 month old a bottle. "I mean, why wouldn't she nurse?" :LOL My how times change!

Yeah I don't think that's gonna happen with my parents, I have a mule married to a jacka@@... don't know how they gave birth...but they're stubborn as all get out (which is what I mean by the jacka@@... not like a butthead...am I making sense? it's past my bedtime )

I'm sorry Heather. Sometimes this forum fills with questions and my day is already filled with other issues so if I don't stay on top of all the threads (which can be difficult on busy days) a few may float down to the bottom and off the page and I don't see them.

In choosing potential moderators I look for members who seem to be good at keeping the peace, encouraging resolution and respect for differing views, who aren't given to posting about negative aspects and members they may come across in the commmunity, who are not overly sensitive, and who are generally polite and helpful in their posts. And of course you'd have to be around for awhile and actively posting for those qualities to become obvious.

In the future please PM me if I don't respond to your questions here. I don't mean to ignore you. I just miss things sometimes.
