This is the same thing I tell DH I want after I have the baby! If its in the day then I get it if its in the middle of the night then I have it for breakfast.

Hmm I don't remember what I ate for breakfast after I had my last baby. I think my dh cooked me up some hardscrambled eggs and toast with homemade jam when I realized I was really hungry (baby born before 7am, that was around 11). At least I think so. I remember "my last supper" during early labor was a huge meal plus salad at Ruby Tuesdays. I still dream about that meal it was so good!

I haven't thought about what to prepare for food after the birth. Hmm that's entertaining food for thought... (and I'm hungry right now, off to go hunt in the kitchen)

Well, last time I ate a little frozen dinner of fettucinie alfredo (with chicken, I think) and it did not satisfy at all.

This time I had my husband cook a bunch of spaghetti. It's my #1 favorite food and really fills me up so I hope it will hit the spot!

I didn't really eat much the first day or two after delivery and was happy with the bland hospital food. My ds was born and 11:45 a.m. and I had a hospital tray with lunch on it as soon as I was stitched up. I didn't eat any of it, but I kept the brownie for later.

I'll eat whatever someone else wants to make for me though ice cream sounds pretty good right now!

A good steak and a loaded baked potatoe sounds really good right now... We'll see about it then.

We usually have sweet and sour chicken and chow mein . We've been trying to eat better, mainly 100% raw, but aren't the most faithful. I am being induced on Monday so this weekend my hubby and I are going to make up a bunch of different salads, nut stuffers and yummy things like that so that the fridge is well stocked for us. I'm especially looking forward to raisin fruit salad, raspberries, pineapple, bananas, raisins and shredded coconut. Mmmm.

Sushi, sushi, and more sushi.

I hate being told I can't have something. I crave it until I get it. This entire pregnancy I've been wanting all the foods on the "avoid while pregnant" list. So...one of DH's jobs is to order a big deluxe plate of sushi from our favorite sushi bar and have it delivered to the hospital on the big day.

Good yummy bagels with cream cheese and lox and onions and tomatos and lettuce. Oh, and also maybe really good deli sandwich (turkely, cheese, feta cheese etc.)

(The things you aren't supposed to eat while pregnant, that I CRAVE)! LOL

I don't remember with DS1, but I remember with DS2

We got to the hospital at 5:00PM, and DS was born 45 minutes later :
It all happened so fast..then we were all in the post baby high for a time....
The hospital kitchen closed before we got an order in....I was SO hungry!! The very sweet L&D nurse gave me her chicken salad on whole wheat with lettuce and tomato that she had brought from home for her own dinner later in the evening It was the best sandwinch I ever had :LOL

Well, I was induced in the hospital. I arrived on monday afternoon and I was too nervous and icky feeling from the cervidil to eat monday lunch or dinner. I started the pitocin at 8am tues morning and again, too nervous and icky to eat. Gave birth at 6pm, but hemorrhaged and had to go to the OR - by the time I was back in this world it was late night and I was too excited and drained (at the same time!) to eat. Finally, wed morning I *was* hungry, but they wouldn't let me eat - they said I had clonus (?) and was at risk of seizures from the pre-eclampsia and blood loss. No food, no visitors, no television, no telephone, no sitting up, and no light. I had to basically lay in a dark room like a vampire and look at my baby. (No breastfeeding either, thanks to the medications they gave me.)

Finally, around dinner I rallied enough to realize that I'd rather risk a seizure than to live in a tomb and take that awful medicine and wait for the big one to hit. So, I turned on the lights, nursed Flora, called my family and demanded dinner!

I told all that back story just so you didn't all go and when you saw my list:

-a veggie burger with cheese
-tomato soup
-cottage cheese
-roasted potatoes
-a big big salad
-peach pie
-an oatmeal cookie
-orange juice
-chocolate milk
and
a slice of pecan pie

:LOL

The hospital food was actually pretty good..

My newest idea to have on hand after I give birth is pudding, wonderful pudding. And it would have to be chocolate. Maybe a fruit platter with champagne and some placenta capsules too.

A hot greasy 18" New York style sausage pizza and buttery garlic knots. I was so hungry! I think I probably ate the whole thing.

The best meal someone brought to me postpartum was the next day, a lasagne and italian bread.

I'm sensing a theme.

stafl, how do you prepare the placenta? i've heard of this, but I'm wondering... fried, baked?????? (This is an honest question, btw. It only looks facetious.)
