My vbac babies' were all 14 inches, which I thought was good-sized, till a visit to a ped said that 14" was 25th percentile?!

Please share!

My VBAC baby's head was only 13.5 inches, but I dont remember what percentile that was supposed to have been.

Hmmm...now I dont feel so good about myself anymore.

Mine were both 14 1/2 inches or whatever they use to measure it.

After my first was born via c-section, the nurse told my husband I would've had a section anyways because his head was to big. Funny, second one was the same size, and I had no problem pushing her out.

both my babies were about 15 inches. they were both a smidge over 9 lbs as well.

Huh. Well, I remember reading somewhere that 13.5" was average. Anyway, my babies were all 13.5-14".

Mine were all 13"

Both mine were 14 1/2" at birth, first 9lb2oz, 2nd 10lbs3oz. Hoping should we have a third it doesn't get much bigger than that, though it seems to be the shoulders that get me in the end! My midwife said average is around 13".

Both of my babes had 12.5" heads, there shoulders were also 12.5". My dd weighed 6Ibs 7oz and my ds weighed 6Ibs 8 oz (born at 36weeks) so they were on the smaller side.

Libby was 14 3/4".

(C/S, totally and entirely unrelated to her enormous noggin). She was 7 lb 8 oz.

It's really not as big as it sounds, she just had a rather egg shaped head with this lump on the back.... she has a cute head now Good thing, cause she's bald!

My first was 13 and the second was 14.......but her shoulders were huge and that's what got me on the way out. My first had a beautiful perfect head, but the second had quite a bit of molding........I am hoping that this one isn't any bigger!

Hmm...

With the exception of that one show-off, Anothermama , we're all pretty much in line with what I thought.

I was so proud of myself for the 14 inches, especially being a vbac previously dx'd with "cpd" haha! Then the ped said "25th percentile," and I was crushed! Not seriously, but I was surprised. And of course dh starts in with, "So, 14" was nothing!" :

14 is NOT 25th%! AJ had a 14.5 or 14.75 and was 7# 3oz at birth. He's never been below 75th% I would say. His head is 19 at 12 mos and that was 90% according to our DR.

I was curious, so I looked on a chart, and 14 is *not* 25th %ile. If I recall correctly (also remember I was eyeballing the tiny lines close together), it's somewhere between 50th and 75th %ile, maybe a little closer to 75th?

I just VBAC'ed a 9+ lb, 14 in head baby, and I feel pretty darned good about myself...

My first was 13.5, 7lbs15ounce girl. Second was 14inches,8lb10oz boy. My 17 day old son has a 15 inch head, 14.5 chest and weighed in at 9lbs1oz. My midwife commented that that is as big as any she ever delivered over 22 years.

Hey, Greaseball, what did I miss??!!

When was this one born????
Ok, ladies.....I had a dream last night that I was at a seminar on childbirth, and there was a huge chart that said, "14 inches = normal" (for head size). Is that too weird that MDC threads are finding their way into my unconscious???

I would say I need to get out more, but we spend most of our days outside....I have no excuse Please love me anyway......

Georgia, I've dreamt about threads here, too!

I love you, anyway!

Thanks, Tracy and I think 14 inches IS good-sized, as both my 7 lber and 9 lber had teeny 13 inch heads!

my first was 13 1/2 and my second by c section was 9 inches(preemie). Go figure the tiny one cam out a bigger hole...lol!
