Week of June 1 thread--qotw & updates - Page 2

QOTW:
What sort of prep have you done for the new baby? This can be mental or actual things you've done.
I have started buying and making some diapers (cloth) and I got a new changing table, since we are using DS's as his dresser now.
#weeks: 17 weeks
pg symptoms: round ligament pulling and stretching, gas, migraine headache, lingering nausea, backache, big ole belly!
struggling with: trying to get over a cold, dealing with a whiny toddler
really enjoying: feeling the baby move, hearing the heartbeat
questions about: My ultrasound is the 9th, and I am nervous about the baby's health, and wondering what sex this one will be

QOTW: I really haven't done anything, and not only that, I haven't even felt like there is anything to be done this time! I read the question and started to panic, kind of like the feeling you forgot something on a long car ride...

#weeks: 18

pg symptoms: aversion to food in general (SO not me!)

struggling with: my prenatals, I just can't get them down! and the guilt I feel being ready to wean my 2 y/o and him not being as ready...

really enjoying: the fact that someone is inside me, growing all the time, wondering exactly whats going on in there at any given moment...

questions about: not much this time

I guess this would fall under "really enjoying", this is my fourth pregnancy and I am having a great time just being pregnant! My first pregnancy I rushed, because I just couldn't wait to have the baby, I didn't really take the time to enjoy the pregnancy. My second pg I was so busy trying to make it the same, or as close to as possible, as the first. And my third, I was distracted from actually experiencing the pregnancy to the fullest because I documented everything so I wouldn't forget anything...as soon as something happened (appts, or the first time he moved, etc.) all I could think about was writing it down or taking a picture, so I didn't forget. I didn't really do a good job at that the first time (nor the second, since I was so big on keeping things "equal" ). I took my picture on the same days of each month, etc. Anyway, this time I am really just enjoying the pregnancy for what it is...not what it was last time, or anything else. I take pics when I remember, I write things down when it comes to me and its been great so far! Thanks for listening

I just had my utrasound- a little girl by the look of it! She did not like being prodded though, poor thing.

I didn't think they could tell the gender that early. Are you going to have another U/S later to confirm that its a girl? Just curious. My mw wants me to wait until I'm 20 weeks for my U/S. I was really hoping to get one next week so I could take the pictures with me to Michigan when I visit my family. (I'm leaving to visit in a week and won't see them again until after baby is born.) Oh well. Congrats Annabel!

I just had my U/S too (@ about 18.5 weeks) and told the tech we didn't want to know what it was. She implied that she wouldn't really be able to tell anyway...

Annabel,
My babe wasn't too cooperative either! Though we didn't really prod at the babe, just watched and measured. He (or she!) was moving all over the place--the tech couldn't push the button fast enough!

14 weeks is the earliest they can tell I think. The tech said it was a girl because there was nothing at all in between her legs! But to not rush out and buy everything pink and frilly just yet (like I would anyway..) I will wait until my next ultrsound in 5-6 weeks before I will buy anything girly. I felt like this was a girl though.

I'm really getting tired of people asking me when and if we are going to find out the baby's gender. It's to the point now that I don't want to tell anyone when we find out. I couldn't imagine being in a position where weren't going to find out and listening to people's constant comments.

I have the Relay for Life tonight. It's running from 7pm - 7am. I'm hoping to survive the whole thing. It's really starting to get me down that the people who aren't pregnant are leaving early. I'm one of the team captains and I expect to stay the whole night. Yesterday the other captain said that she may just climb into her RV and sleep after midnight. This is for a great cause but it feels like we are pulling teeth trying to get people involved in the events. Thankfully, it will all be over tomorrow.

My energy during the work day is still low. However DH and I both seem to wake up in the morning and evenings. I'm trying to get all the loving I can. During our last pregnancy DH cut me off at 26 weeks. I was so mad but he wouldn't budge. :

Have a great weekend everyone!

I was glad to see someone else had written absolutely nothing'. It made me feel better. Don't know if it's that I'm too busy with the two I have, that I've had a few friends miscarry lately, or that this is my most uncomfortable pregnancy ,but I'm just not feeling 'into' this pregnancy yet.

#weeks: 18 weeks
pg symptoms: daily headaches, weekly migraines, lower backache (broke tailbone with first delivery - really seems agrivated this time), pulled muscles in pelvis and I'm still exhausted (with the other two I was bursting with energy after 12 wks)
struggling with: being exhausted and having two children to keep up with, really enjoying: I guess the idea of being pregnancy, just not the reality yet
questions about: how I'm going to make it 22 more weeks - and just getting bigger and bigger - with all these pulled muscles and muscle aches, trying to figure out how to deal with 3- that's more kids than I have hands or parents, really wondering about gender this time; we've enver found out before, but this time we're really, really curious

I am due in early December...mostly hang out over there, but I thought I would visit you in the November thread and say hello! I am 14 weeks along, pregnant with my second child. My dd will be 3 in October.

I like your question of the week idea - I'll go ahead and jump in!

QOTW:

Hmm...I've knitted a few things (hats, booties, a sweater), I'm looking into cloth diapering and beginning to buy a few cd supplies. We did not cd regularly (honestly, not much at all!) with dd, and are committed to doing so with this one. There are so many different options - it is confusing!

#weeks: 14 weeks

pg symptoms: currently, mostly just fatigue and beginning to feel the baby

struggling with/questions about: VBAC. DD was born via c/sec (after 36 hours (!) of drug-free labor and four hours (!!!) of pushing. This time around we want to have a VBAC, but there are few options near us. The nearest hospital to do VBAC is two hours away, and they are phasing VBAC out - you have to really advocate for yourself to have a VBAC there these days. Which it looks like we will be doing. I am meeting with the midwife we will there in a week. She is supposed to be wonderful - I hope to feel at ease about the whole thing after meeting with her. Homebirth is not really an option for us - my maternal family is full of very difficult labors (every single woman in my mom's family) and if we were at home and ended up needing a transport it would be (weather permitting- we live at 9600 feet in the mountains!) a lifeflight helicopter (or an hour and a half to two hour drive!)

really enjoying: sharing it with dd - her excitement is wonderful!
