sun screen

We live at 6,000 feet, and my littles like to play outside every day. They have to have sunscreen or they burn in minutes. But I worry about putting this stuff on them daily. Is there a safer brand than others?
We do try to encourage them to wear hats every day, too, but the hats blow away and are easily forgotten.

Use a physical sunscreen not a chemical one. Keep them out of the sun in the worst hours (10-2). Buy those expensive clothes that give them extra coverage and uv protection. Always wear a hat and look for shady places. Happy summer! Mindy

There's a pretty big thread on this in either Health and Healing or one of the baby ones. After reading it, I went to the health store and settled on California Baby. It has none of the estrogenic, or otherwise nasty, compounds. You just have to put it on a little early and reapply throughout the day.

Dr.Hauschka puts on out specially for kids. Check out www.drhauschka.com

There's another one too. Nature's Gate Kids' Sunblock

onestepahead.com has their sunscreen jumpsuit on sale right now! It also has an attached hood.

It looks pretty neat and may be a worthy addition to your sun protection program.

Yes, my mom just bought a bunch of spf clothing in the last few weeks. She has had skin cancer and is extra careful. I can't remember the brand though.

I was wondering about sunscreens too. I will have to check out these brands. I discovered Jason naturals has a sunscreen and was very excited but it has almond oil in it and ds is allergic.
Re spf clothes: we bought RIT (ya know the fabric dye?) packs of spf fabric wash. You wash it into any ol' clothes you want and it is good for about 20 washings. I think we paid less than $5. It was at the grocery store in the rack with the rest of the RIT dyes. You can also get it at Hancock Fabrics.
This way you can have natural fabrics that have the coating. Linen takes to dye very well so I wonder if it would soak this stuff up really well too?
