I saw my FNP today. I'm just about 33 weeks. She confirmed that my blood tests from last time looked good. GTT, iron levels, etc were all excellent! I've gained 26 pounds and my urine dip was fine.
I'm measuring within normal limits, but on the small end (31 cm), which I've done with both of my other pregnancies, so I'm not concerned at all. She tried to feel the baby's position and she seemed transverse, but she was a little confused by what she was feeling, so she did an ultrasound and the reason she was confused is because baby's head is not only down, but quite firmly engaged in my pelvis (my boys did this too). The u/s also gave her a chance to look at fluid levels which are great and she confirmed that she is a girl.
We had a long discussion about the GBS and my concerns about having unnecessary antibiotics. She didn't give me a hard time AT all! She said I could either opt to not be tested or could opt to be tested, or be tested and even if positive opt to not have the abx unless I have a clinical indication. Her recommendation is to have the testing so that IF the baby has some clinical signs of a problem after birth it will give everyone a clue about what we are actually dealing with.
I hope the birth goes as well as this pregnancy has!!
