help with my diva cup! Possibly TMI

Ok AF is here so I finally get to use my diva cup but I'm sorta lost here! : I have no idea if it's too low or not and I know I'm gonna have to trim the stem because I can feel it and it's very uncomfy.

The instructions say not to put it too high up but how low is too low?? It's not sticking out or anything but it's not really high at all. I'm not exactly having leakage but there is a sorta staining I'm having. I'm wearing a pad just incase since I'm sure I did this wrong :LOL

Am I supposed to be able to feel it or it just because this is my first try and i'm getting used to it? BTW I've never used a tampon before so I have no real clue about where stuff is supposed to go up there just that the package said not as high as a tampon would go.

Thanks!

I used mine for the first time last cycle and definitely had to trim the end, as far as I could. I actually called the toll free number because I was nervous about it and they were quite helpful. I have to say that I was aware of it in there, mostly because I could feel the end of it no matter what I did. I think there is a learning curve to using it so I'm hoping it goes a little better this time. And honestly, I liked having it higher in there because then I didn't feel it as much but that might be just me. Good luck!

Mine works better for me pushed in higher than the instructions recommend. This is only my second cycle with the Diva and already it's become even easier. (And I was pretty dang happy with it last month!) It's like my body "remembered" this new thing. Oh, and I cut off my stem. Didn't need it. Hang in there...you'll figure it out soon!

For "how low is too low??" I'd say if you can look down and see it. :LOL

First, cut off that stem. I wore the darn thing with the stem for all of one day. It's much better without it, then you won't feel the diva cup.

When it's in, it will 'feel' like a tampon - you really shouldn't be able to feel it. I just kept shoving (for lack of a better word) until it stayed and I didn't feel it and it didn't bump my cervix. For reference, a tampon goes in about 2 inches (or about the length of your index finger).

Once my diva cup started getting full, it slipped down a little to where I could feel it and then it was also easier to get it out to empty.

Did that help any?

I've used mine for one period. The first day I felt the stem and was ready to trim it off, but decided to reposition.

It sat low - I put it in as much as it went, but it always resettled low. The stem was pointed downwards and I was feeling it. What I did was this:

when you insert a tampon, you push it up. With the diva, you push towards your back. That way the stem's positioned in a way where it can't bother you. The reason I decided not to cut it off is that when I walked, or exercised, etc, it did move a bit higher up and I wanted the extra handle to pull it out.

Don't give up!! I can't beleive I 've managed all this time without it!!

Thank you all!

I went ahead and trimmed the stem a little but still left some if I need it, I couldn't take the pinching anymore. I am still leaking a tiny bit once and awhile so I might not have it in right. I did get a bit better at inserting it so I didn't even feel it so that's cool I just need to figure out how high/low to avoid the occasional drip. Otherwise I am liking it, I swear my flow isn't as heavy as when I used disposable pads! (I'm using it with cloth pads now just until I get the hang of it).

Elana, I try and put it higher up and it keeps wanting to settle low like you said. My cervix is always very low when af is here and when it isn't even in that high I can feel it bump my cervix. Maybe that's why it is staying low?

And like Elana said, aim it toward your back. Sometimes when mine feels funny I take it out and point it more to my back. The angle it sits at makes a big difference.
