Fever reducers? (west nile)

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I poted this in Health & Healing, too.

My DS (4yo) has the West Nile Virus. we're going to ride it out. What temp is too high for a fever? Also, if it gets that high, what are some ideas for fever reducers?
Also ideas for immune boosters?
TIA

I saw this in the health and healing board. They covered the question of how high to let it go. For fever support I make a tea with elder flower, mint and yarrow. White willow bark and feverfew are also good for fevers. HerbPharm makes a children's fever blend called Temp Assure. I would also do echinacea and oregon grape root. Good luck, keep us posted.

farmermama, I've got Oregon Grape in my yard. Can I prepare it? Or is it something that needs to sit for a while? Maybe I'll call the herb store in town. Thanks!

Here's a good post from a while back.

When I make an Oregon Grape root tincture I harvest it and steep it in alcohol for several weeks, but I bet you could chop up some fresh root an put it in tea for your little guy. Garlic is another easy herb to use. If you feel like he needs stronger immune support you may want to look into golden seal, but with caution as it can be pretty strong especially in a child and it is not a good idea to get it wildcrafted as it is overharvested.
