I think I have it!

I have taken the bottle away! I gave him expressed bm and formula with a spoon, gently letting him lap it up. When he was a little satisfied I put him on my breast and he nursed for 5 min. When he fussed I put him back in his chair and spoon fed him again, playing with him to calm him down. When he was content again I put him on the other side and he nursed for 3 min. Then, back to the spoon. Best part is...he nursed and I only had to pump for 10 min. I even got some bm from my lazy left side. Dh has gone to get a few Avent sip cups for when we get caught out and about and can't readily spoon feed him. NO MORE BOTTLES!!!!! I'm letting him keep his soother for awhile, though. He only uses it to fall asleep and he won't go to my breast for that.

that is AWESOME! My LC actually suggested cup/spoon feeding when my DD was having troubles to take the edge off the hunger before nursing (So she wouldn't get frustrated)

WTG mama! I am so happy for you

Tonight did'nt go as well, but he's usully fussier at night. I still did not give him a bottle. He fussed and I held him and tried to nurse, but he would'nt have anything to do with it. So I spoon fed him some more and he was not happy about it. Dh came home with the sip cups and I got them ready and gave him the rest of his formula in one of those. He sucked it way back. I think they will be a last resort, but still better than the bottle because they don't satisfy his sucking need. I did give him is soother (I just can't be a complete meany). I will try again tomorrow. I am determined not to give him a bottle. I know it's hard on him, but I really believe that as long as I am giving him a bottle he will not nurse. I need him to nurse, even if it's just for 5 min. I had such a great let down after I nursed and pumped. We had a bath and I tried in the tub and he nursed just a little. Persistance...persistance...do not give in.
