My brother in law died last night

I am having such a hard time with this.

My BIL, Clark, was a gorgeous young man. He was due to graduate this month from Oregon State University. He was gentle with my daughter and had a dark sense of humor.

I feel for my MIL. My dh has been gone all day. My daughter doesn't know - that's the hardest part of this. My dh wants to wait until we're all together to tell her. Uncle Clark was her favorite uncle. She always told him this. He was amazing.

So, I sit and wait for my dh to come home so I can outwardly share my grief with him and my dd.

Life ends so quickly. We all forget how fragile we are.

So sorry for your loss!

when a friend of ours passed away in an accident 2 summers ago....it was a reminder for all of us to tell the people in our lives that we love them. I even contacted old friends I hadnt talked to in years.

I've not read it, but I've heard wonderful things about it and keep meaning to buy it. Another book that's been highly recommended to me is Help Me Say Goodbye, which is an art therapy book for children.

My favorite book for helping children deal with death (& I find it comforting myself) is Lifetimes by Bryan Mellonie. From the book:
