Removal of marker from wood furniture ...

Okay, so I took my eyes off a 2yo for more than 2 minutes. My bad. So now DH's drawer has apparently been opened, because I came out to find said 2yo weilding one of those so-called permanent markers (blue) and painting his own Picasso on our wood chest.

So any way to remove a permanent marker? And just to clarify, the field of destruction was pretty big. Say, 2 feet by 4 feet.

Any suggestions welcome.

I had this same experience last week!! DD took a permanant black marker and drew scribbles all over our newly refinished dining room table. I used a Mr. clean magic eraser sponge and it came off instantly!! Those things are amazing!! I got a pack of 2 at Wal-Mart for about $2!!

Have you considered painting it ? I'm so sorry....you should see my kitchen walls! The Mr. Sharpee permanent pen was unleashed while I was on the phone I have this stuff that we save for emergencies---it's totally not "green", but it has worked great in the past for these kinds of situations--it's called crud cutter, and we got it at Home Depot. Guess the less toxic way to go would be to sand it down and restain.
