I can't get this freaking toilet clean! HELP!

We have SUPER hard water. My toilets are completely brown up to where the water is from mineral build-up, and have a big ring around the bowl. It's kinda stinky, too.

I am having some big pregnant nesting urges to get my house really really clean, and desperately wanna get these toilets done. I can't seem to make a dent in it, though! : : : When we moved in, they were pretty white, so I know it's possible!

Is there something I should put IN the bowl to let soak and help take this crap off? Then maybe turn off the water and go to town with a scrub brush or something? I DON'T want to use any harsh chemicals at all, though.

Hey Katie,

The Clean Home Healthy Planet (or whatever it's called) book recommends getting a pumice stone and shutting the water off and giving it a scrub. The pumice is soft enough that it won't scratch but hard enough to do the job. HTH!

Yep, a pumice stone should do the trick. I worked as a maid in Albuquerque for a while - very hard water - and pumice works like magic. Takes a little elbow grease though

I got mine at the grocery store. A hardware store would probably have them too.
I have the same issue with my toilet.

Try heating up some white vinegar just until it starts boiling and apply to your toilet. I also have hard water stains sometimes. I tried this method and it made my sinks and bathrooms white as they have ever been.

And they don't have to be thoroughly cleaned again(accept for wiping) for another 2 to 3 weeks.
