Do you vax your pets? - Page 2

WE take our 5 cat children to a homeopathic vet so he is not into overly vaxing them. They get rabies vax every 3 years and the initial mixed shot of distemper (can't remember the actual name now), when we got them. They are mostly indooor cats (only go outside on leashes with us), so our vet doesn't think that these things are necessary. He especially is anti the feline leukemia vax and says it does much more harm than good. One of our cats actually had a bad reaction to it before we switched to this new vet. here is the link to our vets website, he is great! www.Glanzbergvet.com

We vax our dogs but not our cats. We have 9 cats and they're all indoor only animals. They have all been vax at one point or another, but we no longer vax them. Our dogs we vax becasue they do go outside and also for when we kennel them. I don't usually take them to the vet to vax though. We wait until spring and go to one of the public clinics. It's WAY cheaper and they offer all the basic ones. We do also give our dogs heartworm pills, and one cat gets eye ointment for a recurring infection she's had since she was a kitten. Other than that we don't really take them to the vet unless they're sick.

I definitely vax my pets. I have had 2 dogs have parvo, one has it right now and just left the hospital. I live in an area where corona, parvo, and distemper run like wildfire and i find it too great a risk to not vax my pets.
