Greenbeing, I have never been to a concert at Red Rocks but I have hiked around the area though. DH and I lived in Aurora up until December 2002. We are going to be in Aurora for Turkey Day this year. Maybe if you are around we could get together and compare babies. Maybe even convince Adventuregirl to join us.

Hooray, the closing went without a hitch and I got one of the rooms edged. However, I found out this afternoon that I caused a total catastrophe screw up at work and now I am totally in the doghouse and feel really crappy. Did I ever mention I work for my mom, too? So that makes it a thousands times worse, because she can't ever leave work at work. I feel so awful, but I'm trying to do 60 hrs worth of work in 20 hrs a week and I knew that something like this was going to happen soon. I wish I could talk them into firing me so I could get unemployment. I have to remind myself that even a week from now this will not seem so bad, but I just know I'm going to wake up in the middle of the night tonight and start thinking about it and not get back to sleep. Bleeeeehhhh.

I feel like I should try to say something cheery now, but I'm just not feeling it...

Love to you mamas for sharing the ups and downs.

I forgot to tell something crazy that I found out today... I work in a really low-income neighborhood with lots of families and I have been volunteering and working there for about 15 years now, so I have really tight bonds with some kids and their parents. Well, Jack was born on one of my favorite boy's (now man's) birthday. His name is Fannings (he is now 19 and I've known him since he was 5) and he is soooo proud that he and Jack share that day, and calls himself Jack's uncle, etc. He also babysits him once in a while. Well, I just found out today that my due date is his 16 yr old sister's birthday! Vannessa is so excited and has been running around and bragging about it to everybody. How cool would it be if this babe was born then?

Hello!

Oh, Sarah, I'm sorry you're having work woes. You're right, in a couple of days it won't seem like such a big deal. Hang in there.
Congratulations on your house!!!! How exciting! When will you make the big move??

Heather, I would love to get together when you come to CO! We did go to the concert last night, but left in the middle of the second set because it was raining and starting to storm. Dh was so worried about me and about getting through all the mud in the parking lot, so we didn't stay...What we did see though was great-I love going to concerts! I can't wait to take the little one!

Well, we're almost packed and ready to hit the road for Indiana and Michigan. Dh gets to go to Myrtle Beach to see his family and I am a little jealous of him going to the ocean. But, I'll do with Lake Michigan-it's been too long. I bought a cute bikini top today and can't wait to wear it-hope I don't scare anyone :LOL Ah, who cares, I love my big round belly, and legs, and bum, and...

Hope you mamas have a lovely and relaxing weekend!

Meredith

Sarah, congrats on the house! I hope the weekend is leaving you feeling more relaxed.

I've been soooo busy recently that today, with nothing that I HAD to do, I've done virtually nothing. Well... I bullied the kids into doing a bit of cleaning, did some cleaning myself. Nothing too major.

the thing is that it couldn't have been more beautiful outside, and I didn't even do my daily walk around the garden. On the one hand, I'm bored out of my mind, but on the other I am not inspired to do anything at all. I'm sure I'll kick myself tomorrow, since it's Father's Day and it wouldn't be fair to play outside and leave dh watching the kids.

I got him a nice card, and choco covered espresso beans (he's a coffee nut) and got kits so the kids could each make him a snowglobe, which we did last week and wrapped in stealth today. Also, Monday is our 7th anniversary.

Well, we got basically everything moved today. Thank God we can stay at my mom's as long as it takes to get the new place set up. Its helping Jack that he got to see all his stuff in the new place, seems to help him understand the "new house" concept a little bit more. I really wish I could take all of next week off, but at least I only work part time. Now the sadness starts to hit, because my mom and Jack are going to miss eachother so much. She comes up stairs every morning and he keeps her company while she gets ready for work. We still live pretty close, but it won't be the same. My mom's been crying on and off too, so that makes it even harder. She gets really lonely by herself.

I feel so awful because for some foolish reason I packed dh's Father's Day stuff. We are going to brunch tomorrow morning, but I don't have his card or gifts. Maybe I'll elect a day next week and make it our own Father's Day.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Anyone want to make a quick trip to Fl tomorrow and help me unpack??? :LOL

Sarah, I'd come but I'm at the beach!

Greetings from Bald Head Island, NC everybody. I'm on a laptop with a sloooooooow dial-up connection and others are waiting to check email after me so I better keep this short.

Had to check in though.

Anna, the reason I think I'll be last is because my edd isn't until the 28th and I really think I'll go late. So, I'll probably really be an October mama. Oh well. Reading all your birth stories and newborn stories will be a great way for me to spend my last few weeks though!

Sarah, pooey on all the stress you've got right now! Hurray for the new house though!!

Lots of love and hugs and belly pats to everybody,
c

Whoo Hooo!
The Prince concert was fantastic last night!
We were about 20 feet from the stage, so it was loud, and awesome!
The baby moved around in there like nuts, and I woke up this morning and I SWEAR the baby has somehow shifted positions because of it! Things just feel different. I feel like he's either in a breech or a transverse position.
It just feels....weird!

Hi Girls!

Sarah, congrats on the closing, and best wishes for the rest of the move and transition. I'm sorry about the situation at work too, sounds rough, but I'm sure it will all work out, and you can leave it behind (at least somewhat) pretty soon!

Meredith, I thought of you last night as it rained and rained here, I bet the show was great though. I went to a concert at Red Rocks a few weeks ago, it was so great! I was so protective of my belly in the crowd. That is one of the greatest places to see live music.

Danielle, I was thinking of you last night too! Three of my great friends were at the same show, one lives in Minneapolis and the other two flew from here just for the show. Prince is going to be here at Red Rocks at the end of August, too bad its so close to my due date, I would seriously consider going otherwise. Would hate to eat the big bucks if I went early or just couldn't deal with a concert at 39 weeks.

Heather, I would love to get together when you come in November! That would be so cool!

Julia, I really want to see Super Size Me, let me know what you thought of it. I am so anti fast food, especially after reading Fast Food Nation.

Anna, sounds like you have great plans for your friend's birth blessing, enjoy!

Jen, I hope camp is flying by for you. One week down, two to go, right? Sounds like you are doing well taking care of yourself, keep it up!

Well, I'm 29 weeks today, about to move into the home stretch. Yikes! I have small moments of freaking out, like oh yeah, I have to have a baby in a couple of months... birth... baby... mom... stuff.... holy crap! But mostly I'm really excited. Birth class is going really well, lots to think about and I think its really especially good for my dh. Its a reality check for both of us, but I think its a little bigger for him somehow. I feel like its really time to finally get down to business, its not just some far off thing anymore. WOW!

Anyhoo, glad I could catch up a bit, you all seem to be doing great!

Oh, a question for all, but particularly experienced mamas, what sling to you have or are you getting? Tell me anything you know about padded vs. non-padded. I want a maya wrap, but am thinking I'd like two, and maybe one of the padded types as the second, but I'm looking for input. I want my dh to use it (or one of them) too, so versatility between them is a plus. I know I can check out the babywearing board here too, but I'm not sure if I have much time for that, so any inout would be great!

Happy weekend!

Sarah- Congrats on the house. And moving in. Ugh! Moving is such a hassle but "fun" and exciting too. I can't wait until we FINALLY decide where we are buying a house and moving into it for a long time! David and I have been married 10 years and the longest we've lived in any one place is here and we are going on 2.5 years. I want to put down deep roots. I want to really decorate a house. Paint it, floor, it the works!

Sheryl- There is a recent sling thread over on the main I'm pregnant forum. Lots of interesting info in there. I'm ring-sling inept but love pouches. It's actually embarassing how many slings/carriers/pouches we have.

I soooo want to go to the Dave Matthews concert this year. WHY does he insist on coming to Texas in AUGUST!!! It's freakin' HOT here. I'll be 36 weeks, I haven't decided if I can truly handle it yet. Last concert I got to see DMB was when I was pregnant with Tori. It was in September (not a whole lot cooler than August!) and I was about 14 weeks (at least I was passed the m/s phase). They came last year but David was gone with NationalGuard then. And I couldn't leave Jack (he was about 4 months old) he refused to take a bottle at all. I want to go I want to go I want to go. Yeah know... it does put me much closer to the hospital... we'd only be about 15 minutes from there, we are 45+ minutes without traffic (and there's no such thing here in Houston!) at home... Hmmm things to ponder... :LOL

Sheryl, I have the Over the Shoulder Baby Holder. It's the most padded one available, I think, and I love it. I tried the Maya wrap, but the lack of padding hurt my shoulder.

Well I had a very nice day yesterday! A bunch of my girlfriends met at a bed-and-breakfast sort of place (the wonderful Kennedy School McMenamins, for those of you familiar with Portland,) ate a lot of good food, soaked in a hot pool, and talked a lot! It was so nice to have some "girl" time. They all spent the night but I couldn't bear to be away from my sweeties overnight. I got home at 10:30 pm and the kids were still up waiting for me.

Chrissy - hope you're having fun at the beach!

Danielle - glad you had fun at the show

Sheryl - my dh really liked the Maya wrap best, since he normally carried ds in the Dr. Sears "neck nuzzle" way - dads seem to be really good at that. I liked the Kangaroo Korner padded slings when Jack was newborn. They have a nice amount of padding, but are more adjustable than the OTSBHs. I think the most important thing to remember about slings is to keep trying until you get comfortable using them. I had lots of practice with my friend's son for a year before Jack was born. It really helps to have someone used to wearing them to show you how to "do" it. La Leche is a good place for sling help!

Linda - Don't you just physically miss your babies when you are gone to long? I can't stand to be away for Jack for more than eight hours - I start to ache for him! I think it is the AP...
