I love this book too! I am trying to find a crock so I can make my own saurkraut! I've made some amazing broths recently that taste soooo good to me, especially now that I'm pregnant.

Well, I don't think any of the Mamas here have mentioned dieting, just eating healthier? I think we all know about what we need to gain, and what the best foods are. Obviously eating lots of chocolate and processed junk foods does not give baby the nutrients he/she needs. Most of us just don't want to go overboard and gain too much weight, making it hard to lose.

I gained 40 pounds with my 1st and had a hard time losing any of it the first year (he's 3). Ironically I am EXACTLY the same weight now that I was when I got pg last time! But this time I am eating much better. So far I'm also not as sick, which has made it easier to eat well and stay hydrated, but since I'm bfing through this pg, I will HAVE to eat to my hunger and not get on the scale at all. And boy am I hungry, every two hours I have to eat something. Which reminds me, I gotta go eat!

I have yet to try making any of the fermented foods mentioned....although the Grain & Salt Society does sell a really nifty crock made especially for lactic fermentation. Might be worth a look....but it's $$$!
Oh yeah, I hear you about the broths! I can't wait to move back home so I can have my stockpot back! My sister is working at a fish market this summer, so I think I might hit her up for some bones & heads & stuff so I can make fish stock.
